gen 3 montero OME Struts and Springs with stock springs. Will this work?

The use of the OME springs is very popular, but there's nothing magical about their shocks. Many folks are very happy with some very affordable KYBs and Monroes, even when changing springs. There's plenty of info online about this.

That's actually pretty cool. First time I've ever seen anything like that.

    Safety Items for Solo Travel?

Yes, and it says something similar for operating during a disaster under 97.401: radio stations may use any means to communicate urgent matters of life safety. But the very definition of "radio station" is a LICENSED station; the rules allow such a licensed station to use whatever means it can...

    Safety Items for Solo Travel?

This is absolutely incorrect. There is no lawful way to transmit on any amateur frequency without a license. Please don't spread this misinformation. Of course the Technician license is easy to get and no one interested in this hobby should be discouraged from pursuing it.

    ARCTIC TOUR, exploring north-west RUSSIA

One of the most spectacular trips I've ever seen, and a brilliantly-produced video! Thank you! :luxhello:

    Safety Items for Solo Travel?

A cell phone is the single most important piece of emergency gear these days, so a reliable means of maintaining your charge is essential. Beyond areas of coverage, many carry a SPOT messenger or similar. +1 to the tire repair stuff. That's the most likely failure on your Subie. I like to carry...

    An Axe - Seriously?

The first time I drove Idaho's Magruder Corridor I brought a chainsaw. This is a long, lonely route, with NO workarounds or detours. The Forest Service warns travellers of the possibility/likelihood of trees across the road. BUT...a chainsaw is a single-purpose tool, takes up a lot of room, is...

    Delica for a camper build

I think the Delica is über cool, and have looked at several locally (I live 10 minutes from Canada). Not one to poo poo anyone else's ideas, I do think that a plan to house bikes in one is unrealistic. I would definitely plan on carrying the bikes on the outside of the vehicle. If theft is a...

    Homemade Roofracks.

I think it weighs about 70 lbs. The factory rails that I removed were 25-30 lbs easy, so it's not too much added up top. Krypto, that's a very purposeful looking rack. Nice work!

    Gen III ABS woes

OK, to recap, there was an odd noise and occasional beeping and flashing of the ABS light. Earljuic3 was exactly right in that it was the accumulator; the water crossing was merely a coincidence. Marutuk captured the noise perfectly in this 3-second clip: https://youtu.be/txaUnPgZO-k I got the...

    Homemade Roofracks.

I welded one up for the Montero this past year. It's designed to accommodate plastic poultry flooring if I want to have a solid platform for photography, air shows, etc. The cross bars are heavy-wall electrical conduit. There's almost no deflection at all walking on them. I removed the factory...

No hope for Mistubishi to bring back Montero

Well, the entire developed world, for one. Of course, it's mostly urban & suburban areas now due to range limitations. You may not care for it, but it's the future. The technology is leaping ahead at quite a pace.

Little mods/upgrades/additions that make a big difference

There's a sort of a storage cubby in the Montero's rear door where the headrests for the third row seats are stowed when not in use. We have had this seat out of the rig for a couple of years and this space was being wasted. Borrowing the idea from another Montero owner, I built a folding shelf...
