Pics of rig packed up ready to go?

With two teenage girls aboard, things get interesting. Here we're pretty well equipped for two weeks of backcountry camping, at a lovely little spot on the Magruder Corridor in Idaho. On the roof rack is a second spare, a 20 lb propane tank, a propane fire ring, shovel, tackle box and fishing...

    100 days to Ushuaia?

I enjoyed reading about Tim Cahill's adventure in his book Road Fever, in which he writes about a trip from Ushuaia to Prudhoe Bay in just under 24 days. I personally have much more interest in spending more time exploring rather than burning along for some sort of record, but it was an...

    Swank's Montero(s)

Welcome! That's a great rig. Every trip I take with mine makes me more and more fond of it. FWIW, my '01 came with a broken antenna, too. Replacing it with a new OEM antenna was easy. Yup, I took my spare tire cover to the dump and haven't missed it.

    Abandoned/derelict sites

You know what was so cool about this? NO VANDALISM. No spray paint, no senseless destruction. The front windows had been broken, but there were also dried cow patties on the porch and in the living room, so animals likely did that. Nobody had messed with this place, which was both surprising and...

Who can make the rear bumper I need

Do ARB make one that will fit your Montero? Of course. Have they chosen to jump through the very expensive hoops to ensure conformance with federal vehicle standards in the USA? No. Is this process less expensive for them in other countries which just happen to have a much larger number of that...

What did you do to your Mitsubishi today?

Yeah, looks great. Mine sports ever more desert pinstriping and a paint job is in its future. Thanks for the inspiration!

    Abandoned/derelict sites

This one had boxes and boxes of stuff...some furniture gone but otherwise like a time capsule. Lots of bereavement cards, bank statements, tax records. We figured that mom had died and her son didn't want to be a rancher. Neighbor had cattle on the land, but house had been empty since about 1979.

What did you do to your Mitsubishi today?

Did you do the paint pro-style or is it a project suitable for amateurs?

    New additions to my GEN3!

Very cool. But wait...you're going to have those on all four sides of the basket? UFO reports will skyrocket when you light all of those up at once! :luxhello:
