Yo guys,
I wanted to share with you my new GPS set up.
Over the last year I've had my iphone 6 in a ram x-grip mount, attached to the windshield with a single suction cup. It works well but navigating off road was kind of annoying with such a small screen. Also, I was filling up my phone's...
I wouldn't say for all wheeling, but rather when you are climbing slowly (lets say under around 20ish) I keep the tranny in "2" or "L". All new Montero owners get the trans warning light on their first time out or two and this is usually the reason why. It came on my first time out, and never...
I called them about it and there are definitely problems with it, hence the crazy low price. Salesman was too busy to tell me what their inspection found and never called me back.

I'n gonna wheel it a few times with the open diff and then make a decision. If i do decide to sell (which is the most likely scenario), I'll post it here and in the fb garage sale group.

1/12/16: As I mentioned previously, the torque-steer from the front Detroit locker had bothered me from day 1. On rock the traction is amazing and having it on automatically was a big help many times, especially on the Broken Arrow trail. But I'm not primarily a rock crawler. I'm an overlander...
Ya, I think until you get the tcase or shifter taken apart/inspected you're better off coming to a full stop, putting it in N, and then shifting the transfer case. As awesome as our rigs are, they're old ladies you know and every now and then need to be handled gently. haha
Yes I can. I do have to put some force into it though (more than like if it was a manual transmission shifter).
One weird thing is that when I try shifting out of 4H into 2H i sometimes get a grinding or whining noise. So I usually just do it in neutral and at a full stop. Not like I deal with...
01/04/17: Happy New Year! I've got a lot of goals for this project this year and there is no time to waste!
First things first: An easy reliability upgrade from ebay:
Next, I explored replacing my center gauge cluster with one out of a 94 SR so that instead of the Oil Pressure and Voltmeter...
Very nice truck. Welcome to one of the greatest groups for vehicle owners out there, these guys know their stuff and are very active. Be sure to check out the facebook groups if you haven't already:

From everything I've seen on the Nankang MTs, nothing but amazing reviews for durability and performance but everyone says the road noise is very very high. I would actually go with the Nankangs (which I believe are rebadged by Maxxis as well) over BFG KM2s.
I'm running KO2s and absolutely love...
Yo guys, I don't know if there is already a logo for the AZ crew but I had some free time tonight and whipped these up:
Here's a vector pdf in case you want to edit in Illustrator or send to a shop to print stickers, etc.:
Excellent find, welcome to the club! I understand not wanting to go crazy with the family vehicle. A set of 31" all terrains will suffice for most trails and shouldn't be too bad for the 3.0L.

Hey Euro,
I'm trying to set up a similar tablet mount and am stuck at the point where you attach the metal bracket to the Montero. I see the 3 holes you drilled in the bracket but am wondering:
1. What kind of hardware did you use? Screws or Nuts/Bolts
2. Did you attach it just in front of the...
I totally agree with you guys. My buddy has a new 4runner, spent $30K on it, lives literally 1 mile from the national forest and never goes out because he doesn't want to get a single scratch on it. I live like 45minutes away from the forest and am out there several times a month. I've had the...
Have you ever put a brake pad on backwards? I can now say that I have. Brain fart - the dig in the rotor looks worse than it is. I realized what that noise was pretty quickly. Haha
