Other than painting the door frame (it needs the final top coat) and mounting the door in the hole, it is finished. Here in Oregon it is just too cold to let adhesives cure so the door will ride around with us until we get south enough to install it. I need to take the interior window trim back...
Yes, it should be the right one. It was the cross reference number from the Freightliner number. Freightliner also had them in stock but the glass place just ordered from their own supplier.
Well thanks for that, but what really helps is a good friend with a great shop! Given that we travel in the truck full time and don't own a house a shop to use is fantastic.
Quick update before I run up to our friend's house for dinner. The door project is definitely not for the faint of heart but it is progressing. Which it really needs to since it snowed last night. Will have to head south to get warm enough to install it. Anyway, the door is painted (though not...
My guess is it will have to come out of Europe. From past orders I have found that ordering from either the UK or Latvia works well. Seems ordering from Germany can be hit or miss (I am still trying to sort out all the parts for the brake refurbish, still waiting on 1 set of linings). If you go...
My guess is it is a relay, can you remove the electrical panel cover and have someone else operate the blinkers while you are at the panel listening for the click? On the back side of our panel is a schematic saying what each fuse/relay is for. I think the blinker one is larger than the others...
Thanks for the tips. Very fancy with the central locks! That would be very nice but not in the books for us, got way too many other projects to complete. I did notice something though, very cool idea mounting your grab rail on the inside of the door. I have never seen that and seems to be a very...
Funny, @Iain_U1250 has his thread title including construction never stops. Seems to be the same for us.
We have a few sort of major projects coming up, and the one I am jumping on first is the replacement of our entry door. We are not 100% happy with our current entry door for a number of...
This project is starting today! Most of all my materials have arrived, enough to get the door started. The 3 point lock and double pane glass looks great, which were the most difficult items to source for this door. I have decided to build the door with the plywood/hardwood/foam before I start...
Ok, I think we are talking the same thing. All of the 4 wheels brakes need to be adjusted the same way, with the brake linings .75mm from the drum when the brake is released (whether by service or parking brake) using the toothed wheel above each cylinder (front and rear brake shoes/linings and...
So here is how I understand it (or don't understand it). Really trying to work out how these brakes work so I can get things 100%. Here is a cut away of the air brake "combination cylinder" used in the rear (front is different) sent to me by Stefan
If you look to the right in this picture is...
Thanks Joe, I agree. One thing with our truck though that masked the rear brakes having issue is we have the optional 4 wheel parking brakes (which I had no idea we had). The front are 100% air with no springs, and since we leak down air (I really need to find that leak) the front loses power...
This project is starting to get closer. I have ordered the 3 point locks and handles along with a thermal pane pressure compensated window from Europe. Full length stainless heavy duty piano hinge is on order from a company in the USA and I am working on the resin, fiberglass and core foam...
@Geo.Lander , long story on the mountain bikes. During Covid bikes were pretty much impossible to get here. Our little 20" wheel folding bikes were pretty limited. So, some very close friends, who wanted to upgrade their mountain bikes (they ordered and were willing to wait on some nice Santa...
It has been a while so here is another update from the road. We've been pretty busy lately with doing various activities and driving long days (for us) working our way south.
While in Dawson City we decided to do a 50 mile downstream paddle on the Yukon River. With all the current we did it in...
Hi, as we are working our way back south I am starting to work on my TODO list and getting parts ordered. And one of the things on the list is doing the brakes as I found the front drums to be "heat checked" when I serviced the front wheel bearings. I am actually researching right now the parts...
Since we have relatively good cell service here in Fairbanks I thought I would do a quick trip update. We just returned from Deadhorse and the Dalton Highway. Nice and dry on the way up and rainy/muddy on the way back. Also did an Arctic swim, which was way warmer that we had imagined. We've...
Looking at pictures online of the Freightliner truck I would think there are several cab parts that they share and they likely share the same MB part number. Our windshield was a Freightliner, mainly because they added a black band on the bottom. The gasket was a MB part number.
