F250: New or Old, which would you choose?

Less computers and no DEF would be my choice. My paid off '05 was stolen in San Antonio and I replaced it with a 2011 that had to be financed. I'd much rather have the '05 back. I get a little better mileage with the '11 but more things to go wrong. I'm going to have to replace the DEF pump...

    M101/M116 Check Those Wheel Bearings!

Replacement bearings were Timkins and around $25 each. The only race I'm replacing is the outer on the right and it's $27 and won't be here for a week so I'm stalled until then. You have to remember there's a pecking order in the military. The lowest ranking, least trained privates are...

    M101/M116 Check Those Wheel Bearings!

I'm working on an expedition trailer build based on a M116A2 generator trailer. This is the same frame and axle as the M101A2 so is relevant to anyone working on those trailers. I was hoping to swap out to a different axle to match the wife's Nissan Titan 6x5.5 bolt pattern. Other than...

    Peanut Expo Trailers

Reasonably priced...until you start adding the packages. By the time you get it up to how a Turtleback is equipped you're several grand over a Turtleback cost.

Just saw this tonight at dinner. Pretty fine example of a SS II. Kinda wishing I hadn't rolled mine back in '86 :)

    Wiring For Dummies?

Thanks dwh! That's the basic info I was looking for. Once I get things started off of that I'll be back for some more specific ideas. I already have the fuse module and the solar controller will be here next week so I may be able to start crimping wires together real soon.

    Wiring For Dummies?

What goes where? (I'm sure there's a "that's what she said" joke in there) :) Basically what I want to figure out is what gets wired in what sequence. Solar controller has the line in then to breaker then to where? Battery shut off I think I can figure out but how do dual batts get wired...

    Wiring For Dummies?

I'm getting started on my expedition trailer build and I've got more than a few questions regarding wiring. Setting the actual trailer up is no problem. I've been doing automotive wiring on cars since well before I could drive them so lights, brakes, etc is no big deal. What I have no clue about...

Quit my job, sold my stuff, packed up the dogs and went on the road!

I'm so sorry for your loss. We just had to let go of our Curly last week after 13 years. He'd been my constant companion for 1/4 of my life and is going to be difficult to stop missing him.

CL find: 18x14' military command center trailer - $1550

If he'd put a shot of the data plate in the pictures or listed the nomenclature it'd be easy enough to find out. Unfortunately I never dealt with any of the larger size trailers.

Love Being In The Dog House (trailer)

T-Rey I may try to arrange a viewing of your trailer some time soon. I'm in Spring Branch and as soon as I get over a broken kneecap I'm starting on my trailer build and would like to see some of your improvements in person.

    M762 Trailer build

Subscribed. I'm just in the planning stages of a M116A2 build. I'm using a small comm shelter for the enclosure.

Dstock's M101A1 build... or the reality, I needed a new project!

I've subscribed to about every M101 thread on here and stealing ideas from everyone. My topside is going to be a bit different but the tongue, frame, and axle ideas will work. I'm doing a M116A2 trailer (flatbed version of a 101) with a short aluminum comm shelter (48" tall). I'm going toward a...

    So I clipped a rock...

Insurance rates these days are based more on your credit rating than driving history or claims. If you have a $5000 claim there's no way your rates are going up $5000. You buy insurance for these types of things so use it.

Beauty and Beast Bouncing Along In Big Bend

Great photos and nice tour. We're doing our second trip in Oct and plan on a week in BBNP. Stayed in the improved campgrounds last time (Cottonwood) but plan on all primitive sites this go around.

    So I clipped a rock...

If the damage does come out to $3k then they'll likely total it. Again, your best bet would be to take the money, keep the salvage, do enough repairs to get you home, and then sell or repair it once you're home. The only caveat is once they total it they won't insure it for the rest of your...
