Planning Alaska trip- Pop up Camper or RTT? General planning.

Hey guys, In the early stages of planning a trip to Prudhoe bay for September, and the first thing I need to figure out is the sleeping situation... I'm liking the 4wheel campers pop up's but for two reasons i'm also considering a RTT- use for the money, and payload. - I don't really feel...

    2019 Silverado 1500 gets a diesel

Unfortunately there's a good reason for that- Ram has massively de rated the manual cummins, i'm assuming for longevity?

Ford f550 vs Dodge 5500 for expedition vehicle

Family friend was a master Ford tech in a small town for 35 years, the owner of the store opened a Dodge store and transferred him to the Dodge store, the biggest thing he complained about? Couldn't remove the cab. Made the job so much easier and allegedly the entire repair was, as a whole...

    2017 F150 Exploration/Tow Build

20,000km on the AT3W's. Fronts measure out to 16/32, rears 15/32nd's. Brand new measured at 17/32nd's. Insanely good wear so far! That's also with probably 5,000km of gravel roads, which usually destroys tires.

    2017 F150 Exploration/Tow Build

Just for ****s and giggles... I've had a couple people talk about how these Falkens are terrible in the snow... I'd beg to differ. While they're not quite as good as a dedicated winter (Blizzak etc) they're damn good. And, I think i'm somewhat qualified to say that with how much snow we get...

    2016 Colorado Diesel Z71 4x4 Long Travel

Nice! How many miles on the falkens, and do you like them? I have the same tire in a 10 ply and they are HEAVY mothers.

    2017 F150 Exploration/Tow Build

Starting to get a LOT of snow. The Falken are performing well, except in deep (2+ feet of fresh powder) snow, but that's to be expected being an AT. An MT would perform much better in the really deep stuff. Thinking about putting on a set of 35" Duratracs I have.

    2017 F150 Exploration/Tow Build

Actually very good point. I didn't even notice the Bungee's, but they look like they're about to pop lol I bought a set from the local Lordco (Canadian NAPA) and they didn't fit well, the chain was like bailing wire thin, and they just generally looked like they would last about 50 feet...

    2017 F150 Exploration/Tow Build

Thanks! Only thing worse than mud for that is snow! As soon as you try to move the truck slides downhill- which is typically towards a cliff... Of course, living in the rocky mountains means sliding off the trail is usually a death sentence... I just ordered a set of proper chains to alleviate...

    2017 F150 Exploration/Tow Build

Just came back from a two day adventure, awesome time, and bitterly, bitterly cold! Had quite the scare though... In ~3 inches of snow and another couple of mud, heading down a 13% grade the back tires slid sideways toward about a 500 foot shear cliff. Every time I released the brakes even the...
