Yes, if the ground warrants the use of the lag bolts and drill. If not the pegs that come with it are used. If on sand use a different stake or sandbags. You can also try the military stakes...

For hard ground use the long lag bolts and a cordless drill. Some people have switched to that method altogether.

I would look at some reviews on YouTube about any of your choices. Here is a video about the Kodiak that shows just how durable they are. These things are pretty much bomb proof!

Not sure I am following you on what you are asking. It is flat on the bottom so you can use it by just sitting it on top a grill or stove.
