The E rated might be nice for trying to prevent flats on gravel. But, I'm sure a a D or C may be fine if you're not heavily loaded or towing heavy.
Not sure what pressure you run in your tires but that could have an affect on how they ride.

I've thought about doing that as well. But, I'm so paranoid to screw into the wall for fear I'll end up with screw poking out of the back of the trailer.
Any idea what the wall thickness is or can you advise what length of screw you used?
