Where are you looking to go? It's tough to go even 250 miles without stumbling across a gas station in this part of the country.
I did Fruita to Moab on the Kokopelli (including Top of the World) and splashed in about 4 gallons while on Rose Garden Hill. I was low enough that while going...
The small one with all the steel bumpers actually checks in at 2.5 tons. The bigger one rolling stock is a shade over 2.5 tons. But either will do 80 mph all day long from coast to coast, drive through pouring rain, scorching heat or freezing cold. They can climb mountains without needing a...
UTVs are basically motorcycles for people with bad balance and the desire to take more with them than they should.
That and not being road legal (in most places) makes them toys and little else.
Except now if you park on the driveway, the Homelink is a key to the house (or at least the garage).
But a buddy of mine had a theory on locking his car doors. He didn't see the point. He figured that if someone wanted in, they'd just break the window and he'd have a broken window to add to...
1st or 2nd gen Explorer.
I know a guy that is a tall/skinny 6'7" and he drives one of each of those Explorers. See my build thread in my signature- I was doing trails rated as high as 6 in Colorado before I SAS'd. I bought it for $2000. You can still find clean low mileage rust free Colorado...
Exactly.
That big 'ol girl will fit down those tight trails- tree branches will yield the right away to you. It will make some funny noises and the paint will never shine the same- here in Colorado, we call it "Colorado pin striping". That's going to be one of the hardest things to come to...
The Expedition was the replacement for the Bronco. And the 1st gen Expedition stayed true to its "Bronco roots": ala F-150 based but shorter with 4 doors. The 1st gen Expedition wasn't as capable offroad as the Bronco- mostly due to its longer wheel base. The newer Expeditions are basically...
My winch is mounted to a plate that is welded between the frame rails just in front of the AC condenser. You should be able to do the same.
Some people (in Explorers) have swapped in F-150 rear springs (I'm not sure which years work). It's a direct swap with a little more carrying capacity.
If you do end up going with a hitch rack, play attention where the exhaust pipe is- I'm not sure where the exhaust is on an Excursion, the Excursion may be wide enough for it not to matter. But I've seen it do bad things to whatever is right behind it on other (narrower) vehicles.
RBV = Ranger Based Vehicle.
Basically means Rangers, Explorers (1st and 2nd gens), Bronco II and even the Aerostar are all based on the same rough platform.
