Personally I wouldn't do a hitch for cargo when going into unknown offroads. I'd go with roof storage before hitch. But even then, I'd try to not need any exterior storage. Less is more. You've got 2 people for 2 weeks.
Yep. I sold it just before I moved out of KS back in 2007.
I ran several events and the Evolution School in Salina. Usually a fun venue with good grip. I had my first spin out there.
My RAM mount actually has fallen off. Never when offroading or on some wash board though. Once on the highway. And once while parked somewhere- I came back and my iPad was on the floor. I've since added surface mounts right to my dash. It's more of a permanent type of solution and does scar...
I was the region chair down the road from you in Wichita 10 years ago. I ran a Saturn in STS and then the region's Street Open. There were several events where I'd be the fastest on street tires. I remember Wilcox too.
Now I like playing in the dirt all day instead of standing around a...
What pressure are the current Transforce tires at? If they are super pumped up, that could also be a factor.
But new tires, aired down a smidgen, is still the best answer. The Coopers should be better than the Transforce.
It's not an interference fit. It's a clearance fit. To be an interference fit, tightening the lug nuts down would effectively press the wheel down onto the flange. But the proper way to press something together is not by applying the compressing load off to one side (like a lug nut would do)...
Hub centric does not do what you think it does. For a wheel to be centered 100% by a flange on the hub and a recess in the wheel, you'd have to press on that wheel to achieve that level of alignment. Any slop in that interface would show up as massive vibrations at speed.
Instead, look at the...
On the 5.4L motors, the key to tightening the spark plugs is to slightly "over-tighten" them. Not sure if it's the same for the V10s. The factory torque spec isn't good enough.
Good luck getting that one bolt out.
Full size domestic. Truck or SUV. Can't go wrong. Lots of space. Lots of comfort.
Unless you want to really go serious off-roading. Then the full size will limit you. But a full size should handle 95% of trails.
If you're going to spend the time and effort to do it, don't go with the factory LS. Get an ARB locker or Truetrac LSD or something.
You've got only 30s on there now. 33x12.5 will fit with a 3" body lift without touching the torsion bars (and maybe some light trimming). I didn't like the...
from my experience on this site, people fall into one of 3 categories:
1. The Overlander. This is by far the smallest of the groups. These are the people that are truly vehicle based and travel the world.
2. Car campers. I'm not sure how big this group is, but it's significant. These are the...
Someone just put a snorkel on an Avalanche. I'd think if you have the same fender and filter housing arrangement, it should be the same thing.
Regarding the turbo application, I don't think it would matter. The snorkel might be slightly more restrictive, but not by much.
My snorkel keeps my...
If they were the original BFG A/Ts then I agree with you. They must give out that "3 mountain snowflake" symbol like candy at Halloween. I've had 2 sets and both are miserable in snow.
The new design is supposed to be much better. But I haven't used those yet.
