    range rover classic vs. fj62

I love the Range Rover and I have always tried to find room in my stable for one, but all the ones I have ever looked at (for sale) have interiors that are falling apart. I can't imagine it would be cheap to restore a RR interior. Iff I could find a nice two door Range Rover from the early 70's...

Post Pics of Your Hard Side Camper!

This may not qualify as a camper, per se, but it is hard side and you can sleep in it. It's for sale by the way. http://sacramento.craigslist.org/pts/5222976511.html Is there a classified section here on ExPo?

    CJ5 Resto-Mod Project

I am not a Jeep expert. There I said it. I don't know which parts go with which model, but I do know that the parts I had, I wanted to use up. Apparently the factory steering column in 1974 did not have a turn signal stalk on it...? I had a column from another Jeep of unknown variety that had a...

    CJ5 Resto-Mod Project

Noooooooo....!!!! Thanks. Detail is a trap you fall into easily. The trick is not having it end up looking "over restored". I know, right. At this piont, we'll need to sell it for quite a bit more than the target price to make anything on it. 1949 Schwinn with a Whizzer kit. My dad bought...

    CJ5 Resto-Mod Project

This is the first rig we've worked on together in a while, but as he's recently retired, I have big plans for him...! Thanks.

    CJ5 Resto-Mod Project

Lo and behold. My dad had some pics hiding on his laptop. Here are some more of the engine, trans and t-case.

    CJ5 Resto-Mod Project

While the chassis was being worked out, the engine, trans and t-case were torn down to inspect. I was hoping, obviously, that all were in good shape, but they were not. I never drove the Jeep, having bought it as a basket case, but I did fire the motor before I pulled it out of the chassis. It...

On a side note, I am having a hell of a time sourcing OEM style body mount hardware. Namely the bushings and sleeves. They don't seem to exist. If anyone has any recommendations as to where to buy OEM NOS Jeep parts, I'm all ears. We bought a kit from Omix ADA based on their description...

    CJ5 Resto-Mod Project

Thanks everybody. I agree about the heavily modified builds. It's nice to get to work within OEM parameters for a change. Not everyone wants an extreme build. The guys that would own a Jeep like this already have a crawler or expo rig and they want something to drive on the weekends. Let's say...

    CJ5 Resto-Mod Project

The chassis was completely stripped down and then inspected for cracks, etc. I put the frame up on my large welding table to do the work and found so many cracks and twists it was almost worth throwing away. But I had time and no money... The frame was twisted about 4 inches from one end to...

    CJ5 Resto-Mod Project

Great. It seems like you guys are interested. This build isn't going to be very involved, after all, it's a simple Jeep. Probably one of the easiest restoration projects out there. Maybe an Austin Healey Sprite would be easier. We've only had a couple weeks of hands on work and the thing is...

    CJ5 Resto-Mod Project

I have noticed a trend forming, people want to drive a cool old stock Jeep. A lot of these people have rock crawlers but they want something stock. They wouldn't necessarily drive it to work, but maybe after work and on weekends they aren't off on some hardcore trail. I plan on a few of these...

    CJ5 Resto-Mod Project

Does anyone want to see a CJ5 build? If so, chime in and let me know. We picked up a 1974 CJ5 a couple years ago and didn't really know what to do with it. The decision was made to keep it mostly stock with some minor upgrades like power steering and power disc brakes. Here are some teaser pics.
