basket case 99 F250 crew cab 4x4 refurbishment

Good to hear you got it all up & running. You'll likely love the fridge on long trips. I'd probably go for a constant duty onboard air compressor & a 2+ gallon air tank to run air tools, rather than the hassle on constantly having to fill up or check the level of CO2. Since I didn't have any...

You might also consider the fuel rail crossover (FRX) to solve the fuel rail dead head issue, as well as the high pressure oil crossover (HPX).

If you haven't already, you might consider upgrading your trans cooler to that from the 03.5-onwards 6.0. Excessive heat is the arch enemy of transmissions, and the 6.0 trans cooler is twice the size of that from the 7.3, yet still fits on the 7.3 with some minor mods.

basket case 99 F250 crew cab 4x4 refurbishment

02-04 clear headlight design is much better then the earlier fluted design, especially when they're yellowed over time. I did the same, but also added high output bulbs, as well as a high output relay harness. Light output & ability to see is so much better than before, while not being obnoxious...

With the engine out would be a good time to repair any potential leak problems with the factory dipstick adapter, as it eliminates the need to remove the engine/oil pan to repair the leak properly at a later stage, if necessary. Lots of owners do the exhaust backpressure valve (EBPV) delete...

    Critique my Overland/Tow Superduty Build

^^ this. I run a 17x9, with 4.5 backspacing (-12 offset), on a 2000 Excursion with Dana 50, and still barely just get spring rub at full lock (e.g. low speed in tight parking lots, not experienced in other normal everyday driving) with Toyo MT 17x13.5x37. Ideal backspacing (BS) is 4.5" or even...

F-250 leaf spring help arb and warn

Leaf springs could be tired, so fresh leaf springs may help. Some trucks are available with a 'snow plow' package, which includes heavier duty front leaf springs to accommodate the heavier weight up front. Might be something to consider/investigate to offset the added weight of your bull bar &...

Project "X-Max", Off-Road Expedition Style - The Ultimate Adventure Duramax

Wow, imagine that topper & drawer slide out system, combined with a service body, one would have tons of secure storage, with a dedicated spot for all manner of off road & camping gear.

    37" Tire Suggestions

With good quality, high load rating Method rims available at about $160/rim, you'd be about even money for 17" rims + tires vs. 20" tires for the first set of tires, and money ahead at every successive set, not including any money you could potentially recoup by selling your used BMFs. If your...

    37" Tire Suggestions

If you're willing/able to go down on rim size, the Toyo MT in size 37x13.50R17 (part# 360270) is a load range E, has 4300 lbs load capacity, generally balance very well & cost about $380. That's what I use on a heavy diesel Ford Excursion. The only downside I have found is that I have to run at...

Spray on bedliners e.g. LineX are pretty durable. Plastidip, if properly applied to a well-prep'd surface might be fine for a street rig, but I don't believe would hold up too well to branch scratches etc. on tight trails.

    Project "Autonomous" F-350

It's more efficient to run your DC-capable fridge directly off your house batteries, rather than up converting to AC (with the inverter's inherent 10-15% losses) & then running your fridge off AC. If you don't have the DC cable, it's probably worth investing in a replacement.

Best value Suburban as an all arounder

As another statistical information point, I had a '99 Suburban 2500 / 3/4 ton, with big block Vortec 454, 4L80E, 3.73 gears, 33" BFG all terrain tires & 'autotragic' 4x4 for about 6 years. I admit I have a heavy right foot, but mileage was pretty abysmal: I got 9-10 mpg on the highway, not...

    2005 Ford Excursion XLT

Any info on where you got the mesh 'dog/cargo guard' setup? P.S. For those considering purchasing this vehicle, while the V10 is a little on the thirsty side, in reality, it's not really much worse than many pickup trucks, especially once one factors in the size & versatility of the Excursion...

    AUSTRALIA - 2002 Toyota Landcruiser TroopCarrier - Fully Equipped! - $45,950

I imagine this would be a great fully outfitted option for 1-2 international travelers wanting to explore Oz for an extended period of time. Arrive & drive, and then sell once trip is over. Would very likely be cheaper than renting for an extended period. P.S. for those wondering, 1500 km (D&D...
