    FJ40 Build thread - Hell's Kitchen

It was clear from the start that the rear frame section and the rear portion of the body would not be able to be used. The options were: Lengthen the body, Clip the body in a "half cab" style, Clip the body and leave it open. We decided that the cheapest option was to clip the body and built it...

    FJ40 Build thread - Hell's Kitchen

Next up, hang the front axle. A 3 link with a panhard was the only way to go while working inside the confines of a stock-ish frame and also trying to maintain a low ride height. So far, the bottom of the frame is 23.5" above ground so the truck is pretty low. We may raise it an inch or two if...

    FJ40 Build thread - Hell's Kitchen

Do any of you guys watch cooking shows? Well there's one guy that I really admire in the food world, Gordon Ramsay. His NO-BS attitude automatically let's you know where you stand. He will tell you like it is, or tell you to get out. In a past life I worked as a chef so I have experience with...

    Old's Cool

Alright, it aint a Toyota but it is trying. All Toyota power, gears and axles. I've made some changes to it over the years, but this is pretty much still what it looks like.

    CA18_Sean's 1st Gen 4Runner expedition build

Sounds like you're aware that a spool is not the best choice for a road driven rig. Rain, snow, slick mud can all be downright dangerous with a locked rear, not to mention the uneven tire wear. I used to run a spool in my 510 Datsun on the street, because it was an occasional track car too. It...

Buh Bye Jeep Hello Gen5 4Runner NOW TACO

Jeep is like a gateway drug. I think most of us who are offroad enthusiasts were probably interested in Jeeps at some point. The new Jeeps do make pretty nice offroaders with little effort, but I feel the Toyotas, even with the lack of aftermarket support, make a much nicer offroader. They just...

    Project "Snapping Turtle": 1KZ-TE into a 2nd Gen 4Runner

Two things, keep the IFS wheel hubs and use them with Tacoma rotors and FROR adapters for the Tacoma calipers. Fit a Tacoma booster and master and you will have phenomenal brakes. Also, the wheels on that LC are 5 lug.

Tips for cleaning motor? 22re full of grime and yuck

I do this a lot as a part of my business so I feel I have become a pro. Purple power will remove some of the gold iridite plating if left to sit too long. I use it all the time, but I only let it sit long enough to get the entire engine bay covered with it, then I pressure wash everything...

A sad day.... I blame all the haterz.

If you're putting yourself out there you have to be able to weather the storm. And you have to have a thick skin. Some times I get negative comments or criticism on whatever project I may be showing off, and sometimes it gets to me, but I never complain.

    1st Gen Taco Death Wobble???

Lots of things can cause death wobble. Tire size, tire shape (crown or flat), tire imbalance, tire pressure, wheel offset, use of wheel spacers, etc. Those are the most overlooked aspects of a truck that often lead to death wobble. On first gen Tacos though, the tie rod ends on the steering...

1st Gen Hilux 3RZ build thread - Stoffregen Motorsports

I know. I try to not let that word get to me, but when a customer comes to me for a full build and then explains that there's a tight budget, I usually have to try hard and explain that there is no way to control certain costs. The list of priorities usually gets amended as the job progresses...

1st Gen Hilux 3RZ build thread - Stoffregen Motorsports

Since there are varying prescribed methods, i have adhered to the method described in the FSM, which is essentially what you described. Every once in a while, one gets past me. Changes to the stands... well that is still up for debate. I used 1" x 8 tpi Acme thread for the adjuster, but I would...
