Hierarchy of hard sided campers that handle the snow/winter?

The smallest Adventurer is lighter than a Lance 825 according to spec 1714 vs 1795 lbs dry. https://www.adventurercampers.com/adventurer-80rb

    2024 F-350 aluminum bed

I thought you were going to make this to accept a standard camper, but the rear rack would preclude that unless it's removable. Do you have a diagram of the final result... or prefer the slow reveal... or are you just deciding as you go? Looks awesome, BTW! (y)

    **Pending** 2006 Earth Roamer XV-LT for sale !! $149K

I'm pretty sure that during covid and even now, I could have sold my truck for more than I paid when it was brand new in 2016. Except for the fact that I ruined it with mods! :ROFLMAO:

    A F350 EV? Will FORD’s New EXEV’s Fill The Gap Between PHEV’s And EV’s?

I'm sure they'd love to sell them, but if it's something like the Ram with a 3.6L V6 as the "range extender", I don't think it's practical. All the complexity and expense of manufacturing BEV and ICE vehicles combined. One of the big pluses of BEVs is the simplicity. Battery tech keeps improving...

    Shouldn't need pivots on a newer F350.

    Balancing Payload capacity vs. Offroad

That isn't on the 2.0 gen? Tow-haul does fix the throttle response issue and also holds gears longer and favors higher rpm. If there was a way to make it come on automatically when the truck is started, I wouldn't have needed the throttle controller. I use tow-haul on long highway trips anyway...

    Scout camper feel too heavy?

^I'm curious what "feeling top heavy" even means? I can imagine lean in crosswinds or curves on the road, but offroad I guess it means you are driving on enough side slope that you worry it will tip over? The side lean typically feels scary though, when it's only around half what it would take...

    Balancing Payload capacity vs. Offroad

It might be another bit of federally mandated stupidity (like traction control) that all vehicles are required to have. I took a brief look at "ecoboost throttle lag", and it appears to be a common issue that a lot of people have "solved", but I'm not going down that rabbit hole. The throttle...

    Balancing Payload capacity vs. Offroad

I think I can give you some advice on that one... get a throttle controller or tune for the F150. Toyota changed the programming on the Tundra in 2013 to make the throttle response suck as well. It was extremely aggravating! Normally I drive pretty mildly, and the computer's response was to only...

    Balancing Payload capacity vs. Offroad

@windtraveler, could you unpack that a bit regarding the two being at odds with each other? I can think of a few like duallies, small street tires, sway bars, and diesel being nice for towing and hauling, but not so good offroad... where large tires, and a more compliant suspension are...

    Balancing Payload capacity vs. Offroad

I used to be able to find this info (turning radius) quickly with a google search, but I'm not having any luck now. You'd think this would be an important piece of data on all these trucks, since maneuverability matters everywhere... maybe more in town than on the trail. I do recall that the...

    Balancing Payload capacity vs. Offroad

There are just so many. I camped (ie basically lived) here for many winters in the 90s, and would often go for weeks and not see another human, and that is when hiking all over, too. No other campers, and not even any offroaders. It's still pretty quiet here compared to say Quartzsite, but it's...

    Balancing Payload capacity vs. Offroad

Turning radius is a downside, however. It's not the length or wheelbase... the 3/4 and 1 tons don't turn the front wheels as sharp. Just put something reasonable like Bilstein 5100s on it, and raise the front ~1.5" and install ~35" LT tires, and airbags if you will use it unloaded most of the...

New kid on the block! AWD Transit with composite camper AEONrv

I'm guessing you flipped the fork/bars around? I had to lengthen the cable and brakeline to do this. Just barely fits, with the steerer almost hitting the ceiling and doorframe just above the door, and the rear tire right on the door. It's immediately behind the seat, BTW and elevated, with the...

New kid on the block! AWD Transit with composite camper AEONrv

Just as an alternative for people who might be interested in a truck... I keep my large 29+ bike, 6 big crates of stuff, plus tools and drinking water behind the front seat. Used to be a rear seat (not full size) until I removed it. It's all easy to access. Of course that won't work if you need...

    Isuzu npr 4wd

If that area is cold, then you have an air leak or thermal bridge or something...;) I've slept in my unheated rig (alone) when it was 15F outside, and was totally fine with a cheap bag and fluffy blanket.

Diy truck bed camper questions/ advice

It should work if you do it well! The wood won't be waterproof no matter what you put on it, if there are penetrations... and will rot if it gets wet and doesn't dry out quickly. The more penetrations, the more likely to have leaks I think, especially on the roof. The Titebond that is...

    1993 HiAce Firetruck Build Thread

If your front springs are giving you proper ride height, then they are probably fine. Digressive shocks are firmer at slow speed vs linear or progressive damping, so improve handling, but still respond well to bumps which are higher speed. Increasing the spring rate will make them more stiff...
