    FYI- BAJA NORTE VIOLENCE.

Our oligarchs have been in cahoots with their oligarchs for a long time. That's why we let our manufacturing and infrastructure die and took China from a 3rd world backwater to what it is today. All the people who matter got rich off this deal. Hard to tell what the future will bring, though...

No, nothing near. According to the Coosa "where to buy" page, the nearest is ~1000 miles.

Well... that's weird. I went to buy some of that Coosa, and they tacked on $130 for freight (on 4x4?) and $80 for residential delivery. If I bought a 4x8 sheet, there was an additional $400 freight charge. Nope... ends up being ~$14/ sq ft for 3 pieces of 4x4, while the 6mm EPVC is <$5. This is...

Yes, I have that myself, but that is nearly all a roll motion. Even if you have the bed fixed in the rear and pivoting in the front, frame twist will not result in much vertical motion between the cab and camper. If the bed is fixed in the front, there won't be much relative motion in roll...

Flatbed build, clearance between truck and camper? Alaskan and 2018 Silverado

🤣I don't think there is ever much of a yaw force... It handles great... better than I expected with the camper and load.

Flatbed build, clearance between truck and camper? Alaskan and 2018 Silverado

Why do you say that? I think his frame should be pretty stiff in torsion, while mine is not... but I get flex on every axis. Definitely some pitch that closes the gap when hitting a sharp bump with the front tires. My camper is also on poly mounts that have a little travel, but the truck frame...

Flatbed build, clearance between truck and camper? Alaskan and 2018 Silverado

I have 2" of gap and that is more than I need... even with my too-flexy frame. I don't think the torsional flex will change much, and at any rate he has a torsionally stiff frame. Worst case will be driving through a ditch too fast or something similar... I think.

This is an important point, IMO: "Several rival cartels are in operation in the area, including the Tijuana Cartel and the Jalisco Cartel, as well as two factions of the Sinaloa Cartel, the Mayo Zambada and the Chapitos." If there was just one cartel dominating, it would probably be a lot...

Of course not. But per the article linked above and greg.potter's post, the random trouble is mostly wanna-be gangsters who work part-time/free-lance for the cartels.

That's just nuts. Is this something that the meth-addled do? Try to kill anyone who catches them in the act of stealing?

That's a good question! I've never used Coosa, but I think it would be good in this application. I thought it was crazy expensive, but Merritt has decent prices... except they are full sheets, so shipping will be a lot. It's comparable to ply in strength but lighter. Well... lookie here... I...

Got a photo? Sheet thickness and type? It's hard to gauge what the OP would want without knowing details. I don't have a bit of issue with wood if it's inside, but I'm not keen on it being exposed to rain no matter how well covered and sealed. The underbed boxes I'm making are 6mm expanded PVC...

A quibble... if they are building this as one unit, why the huge gap between the sleeping berth and cab? Looks like at least 6". Headroom is always tight in the berth... Maybe just a prototype issue that will be easily rectified in production.

The anomaly of the past few years is settling down. There will be a handful of companies left that are actually competing... no more inflated prices and 2 year backlogs. This could be a particularly bad time to make a big investment in a new product, as many barely used rigs are being put on the...

Fiberglass skins are much thinner than that! The whole panel is usually in the 1.5-2.0 lb/sq ft range. Edge and corner reinforcements, floor, and mounting points will add some weight, but if that's "a lot" they are doing it wrong. The Rossmonster Baja's molded shell appears to be a single wall...

It depends on the details. I'm not sure a frame is even needed... why not screw and glue the edges of the ply? I make fillets all the time with epoxy and fumed silica thickener to give extra strength to a joint. Most of my storage is plastic... two big garage drawer deals with some mods, and...

Reasonable Internet service if you are not using Starlink?

It does vary, but I'd put my money on ATT based on this map. https://map.coveragemap.com/signal-strength I can verify that I got zero signal south of Alpine TX a few months ago with Verizon, while others had no issue with ATT. Starlink would surely be better, but more costly... plus they...

So far in the 9? times it's happened they didn't want anything at all... they were just being "careful". Or if they were thinking to rob me, they changed their minds. I've noticed when people are trying to act scary, and I'm friendly and unafraid it seems to confuse them. I bet there is a 99%...

They quit making them about a year ago and announced a new camper on an AEV Ram 3500. So far it's still "under development" with no price set, but I'd guess it will be in the $500k range.
