Yes, my friend and thanks to you it is gonna be a sweet custom job. I believe I could do it myself, but it would be ugly for sure. Barnes shipped out bumper today.:)

Thanks to you I have a plan in the works. The Barnes bumper is officially on order and a buddy is going to help me with the work as in your pics. Thanks for the idea.

Nice. I have an email out to Barnes 4WD, to see if they can modify their existing rear bumper to match this concept. I assume, and it looks like, you dropped the tank to so this mod, correct?

Well went ahead and did it. Big Daddy rear bumper and tire carrier came off today. Will be on the search for a tough rear bumper, suitable for towing and also for recovery work. Have looked at many options, and found a few simple ones I like as well as some close up to the rear cross...

    TMC'S XJ project "Fire-Road Runner"

I agree with your sentiments about the hitch. Any clearance you "lost" is also protecting your gas tank, etc.... Nice build so far. I also agree on the hi lift. Although I am a firm believer in the winch... back when I could not afford one, I used the hi lift regularly and effectively.

Old Square Eyes Gets a Makeover

Ha!... I knew you were going to cut your soft top when mentioned the rack earlier in your thread. I suppose if you were going to have and trouble with rain you could sew in some overlapping rubber flaps across the slots that would pretty much seal against the metal. As for the upholstery...

    SHTF and it did.

Frank - first and foremost I am glad you and your family are safe. Congratulations, quite seriously, on staying calm and staying focused on mission #1, your family. "Easy" route would have been to jump on that AR and put your USMC marksmanship training to use. We all have the "hero" gene...

Old Square Eyes Gets a Makeover

Nice work on that YJ. I put a suspension on a friend's YJ a couple years ago and was amazed at how easy they are to work on in comparison to the TJ. I like that you are building your jeep for how you use it. Is your tailgate extension removable? Is there a cover for it in case of rain? John

Thanks Nwoods. I will be going back to the RC 2.5 springs, which are progressive. I was trying out the BDS springs in an attempt to stiffen things up a bit and gain some clearance. It also helped that I just had to swap springs with my son's jeep. He has parked it for the time being, so no...
