The National Luna Intelligent Solenoid uses a Cole Hersee 85A continuous duty solenoid with a peak capacity of 400A. There is a replacement Cole Hersee 200A continuous duty solenoid with a peak of 800A available as a direct swap out. I have had dozens of folks ask for the 200A version. I...
Thanks. We try our best to make sure folks know we're here for them. These systems are simple in concept, but can get complicated behind the pretty exterior. Lots of factors at play here, and often times it's the messenger that takes the fall. The NL system is not perfect all the time, and...
Hi TheJosh,
I am Paul May, owner of Equipt Expedition Outfitters. We are the US distributor for National Luna, and pretty much where the buck stops on this side of the planet. I am sorry to hear your NL system is not working. Forgive me, but I am not sure if you have contacted me, or if not...
Thanks Clint for letting us know about the TE capable steps. That's good to know.
Titanpat57, you make a couple good points about the light and outlet. I will definitely look into it. It would be nice to have the plug up out of the way. I am wondering if there is enough slack to make it to...
Thanks for the kind words. I have really enjoyed the build, and getting out to used the truck. It's been a lot of fun. Yes, we are returning to the Northwest Overland Rallye this year. Come out and see us there. It will be a lot of fun.
Cheers,
Hi David,
Thanks for the call this morning. Great to talk shop for a while. Good luck with your dilemma. The rear bumper is the next step for the 4Runner. We are currently working with Nathan at CBI Offroad in Idaho to put together a dual swing out rear bumper. The single swing out Nathan...
Hey Guys,
Sorry Mikespeed, for the delay in reply. I didn't know there had been a post on here.
Anyway, gas then is a bit different than gas now. I saw pricing anywhere from $3.60 to $7.00 a gallon. So where you go will swing the scales some. I drove a little over 10,000 miles on this...
Hi Ace,
Yes, a 295 size tire will fit in that area. As you say, it is very snug. If I remember correctly, I had to push it forward a little bit to get it to go up in the recess. But it's there, and it seems to be high enough not to drag on anything.
Cheers,
Thanks Nathan,
Had a great weekend birthday celebration. Went to Cabo San Lucas for a couple days with my sweetheart/wife/boss/best friend Heather. I sat on a beach for 3 days and read a book. No schedule, no driving, no set up/take down, no agenda, no nothing. Beers brought to my beach...
The more I think about it, the more I agree with you. It logically just doesn't make sense for it to act in that fashion, and the battery voltage itself would sustain a higher voltage over a span of milliseconds. So much for that idea.
The comments made so far about charging batteries have...
Thanks for the comments. I will talk to guys at the AT shop to see what their installation procedure is, just to see if any external activities may be triggering this. I could be way off base here, but what I have heard is that the newer JKs have an electronically managed charging system that...
My 4Runner acts the same way. All the toys are available until I open a door. That is usually right at the time I am trying to roll up a window, stopping it half way up. My solenoid usually waits to open until something makes a draw to lower it's voltage, like opening the door.
I don't...
The NL system bases it's actions on voltage level only, not by the switch on the vehicle. And the connection of the two is based solely on the main battery voltage increase, not from the auxiliary battery. So an increase to voltage above 13.1V to the aux. battery would not activate the IS to...

Thank you Remote Camper for your comments. They do shed some light on the characteristics of the Platinum batteries and also where there might be some contention between the batteries and the NL system.
The NL system connects the batteries when the voltage available from the main battery is...
Hi Shogun,
First of all, my apologies for not responding to your email. I have scoured my inbox and can't seem to find your inquiry. Could you please forward it again, and I will respond right away.
Martyn is correct. Though the LEDs draw very little, over a long period of time the draw can...
Thanks for your reply and kind words. We try our best to make things right. Things happen. It's how you handle them that matters.
The National Luna Dual Battery System is a very solid product. Equipt and National Luna will both stand behind this system, so if anyone is having an issue with...
Please tell me more about the issues you are experiencing with the National Luna system. I don't believe I am understanding the concern. From what I read above, the system seems to be working once we replaced a faulty Intelligent Solenoid. I have spoken to National Luna about concerns of...

This is going to sound a little low tech, but I bolted them straight through the bottom of the case in the 4 corners. I used M8 bolts to fit the channel, a stack of fender washers to fill the recess under the bottom of the case, a rubber fender washer / fender washer / nylock nut on the inside...
