It draws 6 a then you'd need atleast 100wt of solar to make it work properly, keeping in mind the loss that happens with solar harvesting through the day.
As others have mentioned, I'd run a small battery to even the power supply to the dewalt. And a cheapo SCC too.

My van has the 7.3 which I was told (a long time ago) the computer would automatically see the new CC signals and just start working. And it did.
I did run into a hick up once, the button's harness wasn't matched (i got all the electrical stuff from pullAparts) so I tried another and it worked.

I haven't noticed any mold, but I've delt with minor rust issues from the moisture. Luckily my heater (espar d4) blows out superdry heat to combat the moisture... somewhat.
