'98 disco1 I can speak with somewhat of experience now, I bought my 50th anniversary series disco1 ten months ago, have brought it from 92k to 102k- have spent about $800.00 in maintainance, which is high for me. fuel efficiency is so so, but this is a TRUCK... very heavy, feels great driving...

So, Why did you buy a Land Rover?

it was an impulse buy, last april, although as a kid I thought a land rover was the coolest thing around, and wanted one. So I saw a very clean one at a car lot, thought the price was fair; $5500 for a '98 with 92,000 miles on it. I don't regret it, except to tell the truth, it seems like the...

    north to alaska

a lot of great input, thanks much. posted is my rig... although I borderline on the freedom of no trailer at all, but I do love the comforts of a bed and a place to make coffee at the drop of a hat, and insulation from the elements, especially if it gets cold. As long as I am not relegated to RV...

    north to alaska

The urge to go north is un-bear-able... so I am getting outfitted and leaving in late May. I have a '98 disco 1 and hauling a 14' fiberglass 'burro' travel trailer, about 1500lbs. how accessable are parts and mechanics with land rover know-how up north, through Canada and Alaska?

    Stove and oven

yes, diesel is almost always available, also, if a person has a diesel powered vehicle, then diesel appliances seem like the logical solution yet I am not convinced that a ceramic cooking top can do the job like an open flame propane cook stove can.

    Stove and oven

stoves ovens - the pros & cons of diesel I've been looking at diesel appliances, stove oven combo... for a camper unit on the top of my dreamlist. anyone have experience cooking with a ceramic non direct flame cook top? how efficient is it cooking with that sort of stove? I like the idea...

Toyota T100: Alaskan or other pop-up?

I am morphing real fast.... ... from a Land Rover pulling a lightweight Burro travel trailer to a popup camper on a 4x4 pickup truck. The first popups that got my attention were the products from Alaskan. then I saw the FWC and the ATC's... then I read about Phoenix or Coyote...
