You're off by a little bit on your idea of the prices when new. My 2005 LJ would have stickered at close to $27K new and I could sell it for $16K with 43K miles on it. Last month a dealer offered me $15K trade-in on it with just a soft-top.

How about insuring the cab and chassis as a truck and the camper as a camper, just like any other slide in camper?

If you haven't already gotten the 5200lb axle you can get a standard 3500lb axle and substitute brake backing plates and these drums: http://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hubs-and-Drums/Dexter/84656uc3.html or just order a 3500lb axle with 6x5.5" brakes specified.

I ordered the parts to convert my hubs to electric brakes. It's cheap insurance to me if I'm just pulling the 1500lb trailer with a little bit of stuff but if I load a 1200lb side-by-side or a 1500lb pair of 4-wheelers on top it they are a must have.

Was the 5200lb axle needed for capacity or just selected for the 6x5.5" bolt pattern? You can get Dexter 10"x2.25" drums in the 6x5.5" pattern for a 3500lb axle.
