    1973 Series III LWB

I'm starting to wonder how much extra weight I'm caring around in rust and dirt, then the several layers of paint slopped on top of all that.

I found a chemical at Ace hardware yesterday that is supposed to turn rust into a base primer for paint or undercoat. Onyly thing about using something like that is I think the surface will be very rough after you apply the chemical. but I guess it is a good alterative if you don't want to blast...

Say Hello to Garth - 1973 Series III

I didn't see an overdrive on Garth, are you sure you have one? The only thing you push is the four wheel drive lever, the yellow one. Red is for low range.

could I blast the frame with the body still on? I don't think a few more drainage holes will be a big deal if I hit the body with the sand blaster. What is the clean up for that like? Seems like Id have a pretty big mess afterwards.

    1973 Series III LWB

Well, progress today was slow, as usual. I had a hard time getting the drum off. The bolts that hold it to the hub were a PITA! I started to get a little radical, I tryed to weld one of my old ubolts onto it so I could get some real torque on it. No luck there. I ended up cutting part of the...

    1973 Series III LWB

OK, I experimented with a small section, I took the frame down to bare metal, primed and sprayed a coat of gloss black. and that is what I would like the frame to look like. But I don't have the time or the patience to remove the whole body, grind the frame and paint the whole thing. I'm not...

Getting ready for a trip to Mexico

Mark, You must have missed the part about the trip being on hold until they lift the ban on military in Mexico. On a different note, I am starting to realize my Series III will never be pretty. After just doing 3hrs of work on it in over six months, I am starting to think, if I don't just bolt...

Getting ready for a trip to Mexico

Parts are in! We got bad weather this weekend, i'd like to get the rear axle removed. I have also been wanting to take the top off but I haven't seen too many wagons topless, in fact I have never seen one. Is there a reason for that?

Getting ready for a trip to Mexico

Well I have been patiently waiting for my parts to come in from Great Britain, but there not here yet. They may be here next week but I have a chance trip to Costa Rica that happen to fall into my lap. Now once I get back, the parts should be here, then its game on. I kind of feel like I...
