    FWC Flatbed Hawk, Ultimate Build

I'll do a more comprehensive post on the power system, but have been really pressed for time lately. I'm using 300ah of battleborn lithium, 660w of Sunpower solar on the roof, 30amp victron DCDC charger from the truck. The stove pulls lots of power, but it's really efficient. Draw relies heavily...

2020 Overland Explorer Vehicles (OEV) CAMP-X pop-up slide-in pickup camper (renamed "Back Country" as of 2023)

As a dealer, I doubt they'll ever make a flatbed model for the smaller trucks. OEV is pretty engineering/design focused and weary of effective weight limits. Small trucks just never really carry a flatbed rig well, as cool as they look.

    FWC Flatbed Hawk, Ultimate Build

With the hot water and heat taken care of, the only propane appliance left is the cooktop. As I said up top, the specialty of my shop is lithium power systems and solar. We've done a few vans etc. with induction cooking and it's always intrigued me. The actual experience of cooking on induction...

    FWC Flatbed Hawk, Ultimate Build

Here's a closer shot of the timberline control panel (next to the Simarine monitor we'll go over in a bit).. And a picture of the Scepter boat tank I found that fits into the old propane cabinet perfectly: Link is here: We're using the 3.2G In this interior shot, you can see the grate...

    FWC Flatbed Hawk, Ultimate Build

As much as I loved the Grandby, there were a few things I wanted to improve/address or simply upgrade over the factory offerings. First was, of course, the storage issue for bulky items. The shortbed camper on the longbed truck got me a solution for that, which I'll write more about on the...

    FWC Flatbed Hawk, Ultimate Build

Hey guys, I haven't posted on here in a long, long time. Facebook got me for a while, and so did traveling around, then a surprise small business.. but I'm back! Since it's been a while, I'll do a quick intro: I had a 2016 Four Wheel Camper Grandby on the back of a 2005 Silverado HD. In 2016 I...

2005 Silverado 6.0L, heading to Argentina.

Spare is a matching 285/75/17 on H2 Alloy. I do a 5 tire rotation to help keep the locker happy. FWIW, the previous 35x12.5x17" tires would also fit under the rig in the factory location. I don't like things hanging off the back.

Hey PGW, what are you using for shocks in the rear?

    Integrated Spare Fuel Tank

This is basically exactly where I'm at. The regular transfer tanks are just way too big for what I need and would rob too much bed space. A box like you want, about 4" - 3.5" wide would be perfect. I was just hoping someone made a HDPE already.. Guess I'll try and have one fabbed or do it...

    Integrated Spare Fuel Tank

I did look at Titan and they do make a tank for the Silverado 2500HD's, but only for extended and quad cabs. Nothing for the regular cab rigs, just not enough extra space underneath. Not to mention they're outrageously expensive.

    Integrated Spare Fuel Tank

Thanks man, I appreciate it. The truck was super fun to build and the name just came naturally while I was "working" one day.. :) I thought about the spare tire tank option, but I'm not ready to move my spare tire, I can fit a full size 35x12.5" under there no sweat. I also don't want to move...

2005 Silverado 6.0L, heading to Argentina.

Hey man, We are long gone from Colombia, but thanks for the suggestions. We actually found Cartegena to be one of our favorite places for night-life.. :) Ain't nobody lookin' to traffic me. We spent a week in Taganga learning to dive, and spent a few days in Medellin as well. We did even...

2005 Silverado 6.0L, heading to Argentina.

So far it's all been pretty safe.. Sure you can be robbed, it does happen. But it happens at home too. The first time we went to Africa we spent 2 weeks there and had a great time, the first 3 days we were home my wife's car was broken into on a main, downtown street, parked under a street light...

FOR SALE: Dodge Ram 2500 HD HEMI 5.7 & Palomino Backpack Truck Camper 2017

What's the gear ratio? 37's are some pretty big rollers. Especially with all the weight and a small block gasser.

Hey guys, Thought I'd do an update here. I ended up getting fairly into Sketchup as it was a really easy transition. All the keyboard shortcuts were intuitive and it was great to have something calculate cut and bend angles for me. I used it to build my custom aluminum truck bed...

    Why so few GM Builds?

Haha, exactly this. Those guys aren't #overlanding or living the #vanlife or #expoaf or #anything. They're just doing the same thing in trucks we've been doing for decades and not calling it anything, posting on instagram, or having meetups in Starbucks parking lots. Our Chevy's are boring...
