Best full-size 4 season composite trailer?

Yeah, probably true. Maybe I should have kept my mouth shut until after delivery!?

Best full-size 4 season composite trailer?

Texas is an interesting example. The reason they don't have much public land (other than the state and federal parks) is connected to the way they joined the US. The land in TX wasn't "purchased" by the US government the way most of the land in the western US was. So there's a lot more private...

Best full-size 4 season composite trailer?

Maybe it's a bigger problem in AZ and UT. Every year we drive up at least one road on BLM land in AZ/UT that we've camped on in the past and see a new sign saying "Day Use Only" that wasn't there the year before. We try to find at least three or four new areas to camp every year just to stay...

Best full-size 4 season composite trailer?

I don't know if the bigger trailers are the only reason, but each year we do see new BLM land closed to all camping. Not only that, but you should plan any trips to CA soon as well. At the rate the CARB is moving, I fully expect my 2012 F350 diesel won't be allowed to enter CA before too long...

Best full-size 4 season composite trailer?

You definitely shouldn't buy a trailer just because of one feature or another. Just to provide more information, hot dipped galvanization is available throughout the U.S. Yes, even in Indiana.? The temperatures aren't as extreme as you suggest at 1,800 degrees. The process can generally be done...

Best full-size 4 season composite trailer?

One of the funniest comments I ever saw on an off road forum was when someone referred to Black Series as "the Jayco of the off road". On a serious note. The Black Series used to advertise their HQ19 GVWR at 10,000lbs. That always seemed too good to be true based on the quality of the brand. As...

Best full-size 4 season composite trailer?

You're right. Making blanket statements like "more rugged" is never a good idea. We won't know how rugged any of these trailers are until we use the heck out of them for ten years or more. I would also say that using phrases like "the best insulation in the business" is not wise either. You seem...

Best full-size 4 season composite trailer?

I'm only talking about the bigger, heavier, four wheel trailers. At a 9,920 GVWR, you benefit from having a steel frame (galvanized and coated) that can take the strains of the weight and IS articulation. I also prefer an aluminum box with thick walls/floor/ceiling and 100+ mil fiberglass rather...

Best full-size 4 season composite trailer?

And I hope the North American market continues to mostly camp in RV parks, not in the "outback"! That would leave the good stuff for the 1% of us who wouldn't be caught dead in an RV park. Which is probably most of the people who visit Expedition Portal. ? The first time you go back to NV with...

Best full-size 4 season composite trailer?

Good point. Four season capability and off road capability are not the same thing. I've often wondered why well built fiberglass trailers like Bigfoot and Oliver don't put more capable independent suspensions on their trailers. It's probably because the aluminum frames aren't designed for it.

Best full-size 4 season composite trailer?

Bigfoot is a good example of a well made trailer. I don't know if Bigfoot does all of this, but you need three key elements to be truly four season capable: Heating pads on the tanks and insulation on the plumbing lines. A "skid pad" that fully covers the bottom of the frame AND is insulated ( I...

Best full-size 4 season composite trailer?

We've been researching our next traiuler for fulltime living for the last three years and have looked at everything available. We made our decision and are currently building a true four season dual axle offroad trailer with Kingdom Camping. As we get further into it, we'll start posting more...

    OBI Dweller Review and Discussion

You are right. We just pulled the trigger on a complete new system. Prices may get lower from here, but they are already much lower than a month ago. As an example, we got $15,000 worth of lithium batteries for $12,000. Just watch, they'll probably be $9,000 nest year!?

    2023 UEV-14

When we have more info., we'll probably start a thread here to follow the build. We've already gotten really good ideas from people here over the past few months on chassis/suspension/ wall design and so on. We'll be open to more ideas as we build. You risk lot of criticism when you give details...

    2023 UEV-14

So I'm not well educated in shock absorbers. I was a little worried that a four wheel CM ATX system rated for 9,920lbs could actually handle that much weight with only four shock absorbers and four airbags. Do you think a set up like that can reliably handle that much weight? Other systems seem...

    2023 UEV-14

I'm glad you commented on CruiseMaster. We're specifying the CM ATX for our next trailer. It trailer will be big (9,000+ lb GVWR), but our understanding is that the ATX has options that should be easily be able to handle that weight. We never thought about a sway bar on one of these suspensions...

    2023 UEV-14

The portable generator is definitely the power solution of choice for the masses. In the wintertime AZ desert, yoiu can't throw a rock withouit hitting a trailer with a generator sitting outside on the ground. Some of them are the noisy as hell open frame type while others are a bit quieter...

    2023 UEV-14

I hadn't noticed that torsion bar before. Good catch. You don't see that set up on the CruiseMaster ATX suspension used on the X195/R1. I wonder how the ATX addresses the sway issue.

    RKS Off-Road Motive Trailer

Yes, but relying on outside money rather than being able to have current sales support operations isn't a promising sign. Especially with where they are in their business rollout.
