Is the roof tent trend over?

If you do that in Seattle you will come out to find you have someone sleeping in there ??

Is the roof tent trend over?

Totally, and don't forget that when it rains you need to open it back up (at some point soon) to dry out or else you will get mold - which if you live in a rainy environment (like the PNW) is extremely challenging.

Hallmark Truck Camper Company files for bankruptcy

Sure, but there is also a point at which it's detrimental - for example FWC is not really considered a "premium" manufacturer anymore due in large part to their continued use of substandard components. They are still selling campers right now with a long lead time but who knows how long that...

Would you live in a wedge camper full time?

I lived full time out of my 5 foot bed Tacoma and a Vagabond Drifter with a 50lbs dog for about 6 months. I’d say it would be pretty doable if you could follow the weather, but once those temps start to drop and your only way to cook is outside and there’s not much “hanging out” room inside you...

Hallmark Truck Camper Company files for bankruptcy

At least FWC is owned by a private equity firm who presumably has competent people making business decisions for them (would also likely explain the complete lack of innovation).

    Vagabond Outdoors Drifter

I agree, in some ways I think I might owe my life to Phil and Vagabond (I was the one who flopped Zero), but if I had to buy a new camper tomorrow I would get an Alu Cab. Yes it’s heavier, and more expensive but it has a 2-3 month lead time and there is so much aftermarket support for it that I...

    Vagabond Outdoors Drifter

The GFC v1 is a pretty simple camper to make, and someone could more or less build it in their garage. Welded steel tube frame for the truck, with an aluminum extrusion top and some hinges. The upper portion is also the same whether you have a 5 foot bed Tacoma, or an 8 foot bed F350. Obviously...

    SOLD — Earthroamer #28 For Sale (F450 / 6.0L / 2006)

The Keldermann kit costs like $6000 - assuming they charge $150/hr for labor (which is probably high) does it take them 240 hours to install the kit?! FWIW - no need to get the Hutchinson wheels. Buckstop and 1st Attack are substantially cheaper and you can get a complete wheel/tire package for...

On-board air solution for super singles

I have a 2004 F450 on 335/80/20 MPT81 and I have probably completed more air up/down cycles than most with just an ARB Twin Air Compressor and it works just fine. Yes, it takes a bit longer than my old 35s but not that much longer. In routinely traveling with others and I don’t feel like they...

WTB: Aftermarket bumper for ‘99-‘03 Ford Superduty

I have an 04 Super Duty and an 07 Super Duty, both with ARB bumpers. It’s the same bumper. The 07 model number includes an extra “fitment kit” because of a crossmember that doesn’t exist on previous ones and you have to cut part of the grill if you are using a winch.

WTB: Aftermarket bumper for ‘99-‘03 Ford Superduty

No modification required - 99-04 and 05-07 ARB Super Duty bumpers are the same. The Ford frame is the same from 99-15.

    2005 Ram 3500 overland flatbed

You can go on Fords website and build a truck. I specc’d out one with 4x4 and the 7.3 (gas) for $50k. Add in like $6-8k for the 6.7.

    2005 Ram 3500 overland flatbed

No, but you could buy a brand new 2021/2022 F350 for that price and not have to deal with the maintenance on a 16 year old truck.
