YAAC - Yet Another Ambulance Conversion

Take a look at my build. I cut a hole in the floor and connected my diesel heater to the aux fuel port. (it's not under pressure). Good to know that the pickup for that line only goes down to about quarter tank.

The Rig Runner ...a 2010 E350 5.4 DIY Coil Conversion

How's that fridge holding up? My super cheap bar fridge is starting to come apart so I'm looking for a more durable option. Thanks!

Red Cross ERV 4x4 camper build

Thanks! I hadn't considered using the Spyntec hubs to change the bolt pattern. Food for thought.

Red Cross ERV 4x4 camper build

Great project! You'll love it. That's good beta on the Dodge wheels. I've been scratching my head on what to for wheels on my 4x4 conversion. What front axle are you going with? I'm swapping in a post 2005 Dana 60 and it has the 8x170 bolt pattern so that's an extra bit of complexity to sort...

The Rig Runner ...a 2010 E350 5.4 DIY Coil Conversion

Wow, those seats look great! Need more details on the arm rest, puleaze!! :) My back hates the Ford seats. I have to drive with a towel rolled up under my lower back. I'll have to start prowling the wrecking yard for Audi seats.

Decision Time - Single Rear Tires vs Dual on Ambulance

Absolutely. For a rig that sees heavy offroad use there wouldn't be much debate. It's more this combo of lots of highway miles along with deep snow parking lots and kinda rough fire road terrain that has made it a tougher decision for me.

Decision Time - Single Rear Tires vs Dual on Ambulance

Hah, you dredged up on old memory. Had a neighbor when I was kid with a an old deuce and a half and yep.. he did manage to lodge a rock between those old military duallys. They did seem very effective at rock capture, perhaps part of a secret military defence plan? ;)

e450 7.3 Diesel vs v10 vs wait 10 years for 7.3 gas cutaway as a base for custom camper box

Just to clarify. 73dB is my current max and that's matting it through the mountain passes. Cruising noise is in the low 60's and I haven't put any sound deadening on the firewall/behind the dash. I'm sure it could be made quieter, I've just had higher priority things to work on.

e450 7.3 Diesel vs v10 vs wait 10 years for 7.3 gas cutaway as a base for custom camper box

A big diesel in a van cab is noisy. Consider whether you and your wife like to talk or not. I was hitting over 90dB on hills inside the cab before I added a lot of sound insulation. Was able to knock about 20dB off but it's still loud compared to a gasser.

Slim battery needed, lithium or AGM

For oddball sized lithium cells in the US check out https://batteryhookup.com/ I built a 120ah pack from some electric car cells sourced from them. It's about 4 inches wide. This pack here might work for you...

Sleep 7 in e-350 eb?? Am i nuts??

Depends on how tall you are. Being close to six foot I appreciate being able to sleep crosswise in my E350 ambulance. Looking at weights of fully loaded Sportsmobiles vs ambulances or box trucks and they are all in the same range. Take a look at @Abitibi builds for some family friendly...

Decision Time - Single Rear Tires vs Dual on Ambulance

Thanks David! I went bed, confident that I was going to keep the duallies and then you come along and confuse things again. (joking) I've been reading so much that it slipped my mind you still have your original rear axle. Thanks for reminding me. The big decision at this point was whether...

Decision Time - Single Rear Tires vs Dual on Ambulance

and that reminded me of this massive hail storm I drove through a couple years back. Definitely a win for skinny duallys. Anyone with fat tires was either driving at 10kph, pulled over or was in the ditch. I barely noticed it. lol

Bob the Campulance. E350 Crestline with Roof Raise. V3 in Progress.

Well... things can change quickly in a couple weeks. On my last camping trip I was cruising some back roads and seeing spots to camp IF I wasn't just 2WD and rolling on these little 225/75R16 tires. Decided I'm tired of not having 4x4. This is the first vehicle I've owned in 15 years that...

Decision Time - Single Rear Tires vs Dual on Ambulance

Hey! Much appreciate the feedback. Especially given your experience driving here in Alberta and Canadian winter driving. Chains have already been a big help. Gotten me out of a few stucks, even with just a set of singles on the outside rear tires. As cool as those big tires look I'd rather...

Decision Time - Single Rear Tires vs Dual on Ambulance

Thanks! I have the Dana Trac Lok in the D70, which is likely enough for the kind of places I go. Apparently the Sterling rear from the F350 has a limited slip as well so that doesn't help the decision. Certainly cheaper and faster to convert if I stick with the duallies. Given the size of the...
