Basic. Threaded nut on the inside. 3/8th bolt size. The lid comes down and has 2 dowel holes that are in the top of the tailgate to keep it from being opened when the lid is down and locked, and lid frame has two dowels that are attached at bottom of frame to go into dowel holes. Also the skin...

Picked up a M416, and let the build begin!

Its been awhile. To much camping is getting in the way of getting this done! Not in a big rush, so. Got the lid frame, skin for the lid, misc brackets, and fenders powder coated. Kind of a Gun Metal Grey. Going to install the skin next week. Here are a couple of pics of the frame on the tub...

Picked up a M416, and let the build begin!

All the material was bought together. I will have to go through and see if it is broken down. And I can relate on the pinching pennies. I can see where one can go nuts with these trailers. Thx

The skin is aluminum. Its a 2 piece because the metal break was not big enough. Going to use a automotive epoxy called Panel Bond to attach the the frame and skin and then rivets. And seal the seams with standard automotive sealant. I can post up pics after I get it back from the powder coating...

Picked up a M416, and let the build begin!

Just picked this up about a month ago. Pretty good shape. So figured it time to start the build. Getting the basics going first. Getting the top lid made up. Then went to the back for a bumper and jack stands so when its off the vehicle and I forget and sit on the tailgate, I don't spill my...

Thanks for the info. Was pretty sure I was going that route, but after the other day, hooking up the trailer, going down hill, that parking brake sure came in handy. Might have to keep it. Could have gotten ugly! Also, the shackle kit you got from Daystar, are those going on the back and...

Good looking rebuild. I just picked up pretty much the same trailer as you. I am having a lockable top made, some jacks in the back for when its not hooked up, and a bumper with a 2" receiver. My question, I have beed looking for the Dexter 55" 3500lb axle with a part # of NS35655I-ST-EZ. I...
