GM G80 locker axle transplant on Sprinter along with 4x4 conversion

Some progress. I ran into problems aligning things and drilling into the axle flanges. The axle metal is hardened, and I don;t have good drill bits for this application. Also broke a tap inside a drilled hole. So plan B, rather than bolting all together, I turned a wood spacer on my lathe to be...

GM G80 locker axle transplant on Sprinter along with 4x4 conversion

I am approaching this as try and see. My own 4 wheeling has never been that extreme. We've had at least 6 4x4 vehicles, none with locker, and never got stuck, so while an ARB sounds really cool, it is not necessarily needed. Of course YMMV. And, there is an ARB that fits if I so desire. Jluth...

GM G80 locker axle transplant on Sprinter along with 4x4 conversion

Figured I'd follow up. it's been a while. I came down with a bad case of Leukemia last October. I am not out of the woods, still having blood transfusions for anemia and getting over fungal pneumonia (both due to the cancer) but regained a little bit of energy. The Sprinter has been up on blocks...

    Overland Sprinter Build

Re: southco, We had the plastic version, they broke. Bad enough problem I redesigned galley and redid drawers with no latches. My no latch system is probably not appropriate for your metal drawers. But, One drawer remains in another cabinet where I replaced plastic southco with knock off...

    Overland Sprinter Build

We previously had full extension slides on our kitchen drawers. I remade the drawers without them a couple years ago for the same reason, to gain extra space. We use wood drawers with HDPE glides, not full extension. Functionally, this is not any problem for our needs. If you partitioned drawers...

Thanks. Those are the ones (at least look the same as OEM) you rejected last July because backspace was too deep. Oh well, live and learn. I can probably get 6 at the junk yard and finagle selling the other ones I pulled then which have less backspace. Will you do me the honor of measuring the...

Hot dang. I have the G80, and did find the posi and lunchboxes previously but not ARB. Possible future upgrade... EDIT: Hmm, I had indeed found that previously, but found no reference to compatibility with 9.5" rear, only 9.25 front. Anyway, looking forward to seeing how it works out on yours...

Did you have the chance to engage 4wd with the new front DS?

Yes, I am pretty sure right around 2011-2012. They also changed the tone ring count to I think 88. But likewise don't know about the vans. When I was shopping around seemed there was different track width for van vs pickup, so I am not too sure whether axles can be interchangedbetween them. My...
