Took a bit of work to make these skid plates work (not sure why it wasn't a direct bolt-on as advertised from the manufacturer) but it looks and fits good now. This t-case skid came with a big step down to clear the stock exhaust crossover pipe, which I relocated previously, so I got to chop...

The way I feel about it: there's no difference between cutting up a modern new truck vs an older one is the amount of dirt and rust you have to deal with. Modern vehicles are packaged more efficiently with more features but the physics are still the same. There's absolutely nothing to be afraid...

changed the preload on the front springs to get closer to the design ride height spec'd by OME/ARB and pulled the entire backseat area out to prep for more storage space plus a dog platform, added some sound deadener stuff while it's accessible.

This simple little jumper took weeks to put together due to an online dealership who went out of business after I placed the order but didn’t notify me, and hung up on me most of the time after trying to call them, and then a 2nd dealership who never called to let me know the housing came in...

got more wiring done, switchpros sure does make things easy. reran the compressor wiring to go to the fuse block on the powertray, hook up the light bar and thought i was clever hooking the backlighting to the compressor enable. Ran a 10gauge wire to feed an in-cab power distribution unit, a...

Major milestone! Truck made its maiden voyage with the new rear suspension. It successfully backed its way down, turned around and backed up the driveway again for more front end work. Alignment is pretty bad right now, I'll try to get that done this coming weekend. After that it's getting...

Are the chineseade warn and smittybilt winches holding up?

i've pulled pretty hard and long on my smitty X2OS over the years and it's never given me issues aside from the wireless controller sometimes just stops working at all. Always works perfectly once plugged in. And each time smittybilt customer service has been super helpful and promptly shipped...

forgot to post this one. I’ve been hoarding this valve since my minitrucking days in high school to finally find a home here, 15 years later. It's always so satisfying to find a nice permanent home for long-hoarded components

made some progress over the weekend. Got around to making a nice lightweight aluminum mount for my nice aluminum air tank and got it tucked up in the frame rail. It should never drag on anything here. and used my fancy blue tool to hold up the front bumper so I can move it on and off by...

Perfect timing on this question, I just got the lower mounts for the cradles finalized and bolted in. As you can see, the air spring can fully separate from the lower cradle for when I droop out beyond the airspring travel As for sizing, it was fairly easy as I selected the airlift load...

thanks for the compliments, definitely no time to waste, I wanna be out there adventuring again soon! some updates: I'm committing to spending money to source OEM connectors and pins to create little subharnesses rather than cutting the stock harness. Even though I have plenty of experience...

    Disco 1 vs Disco 3 (LR3)

I'm a little late to the party, but I owned a disco1 for a while and thoroughly enjoyed it. but everything they say about how it always rains inside a rover was true. it took a bit of time and effort to seal it up. with a mild OME lift and removing the swaybars, it was a joy offroad though...

How often do folks get flat tires (or need to use a winch)?

I've debeaded tires from logs, rocks, and ice punching the sidewall but so far managed to never get a flat off-pavement. I've picked up several nails and such on pavement in various vehicles though. I've used my winch plenty but I did go on trails knowing that there's a high likelyhood of...

this was the real nail biter of a project. sticking stickers on the switchpros panel straight and centered. unlike welding and cutting metal, no redos on this one! but I think i did a good job. Bought a nice custom RP panel for the switchpro panel to mount to, and relocated all the stock...
