    Fuso won't start or run.

The smoke is white, almost blueish. It smells like unburned diesel. It is almost entirely under load, I have to rev it up to at least 2000 rpm before it starts. I think you are right about the timing. Timing this engine is hard, due to the ridged fuel lines attached to the pump, but I was able...

    Fuso won't start or run.

Update: it's doing way better now. I took Dan's (Aussie Iron) advice and set the timing by prying agist the body of the ip, I only got it to move about 7 points (almost one line) but it made a major difference. Before it was putting out so much white smoke it filled the while area with a tick...

    Fuso won't start or run.

I didn't even know injectors could be rebuilt. Shows how little I know about diesel engines, I kinda wish I would have done that. Replacing the injectors is less a cost issue and more of the fact that I can't find the parts.

    Fuso won't start or run.

The engine only has 80,000 kilometers (about 50k miles), originally when I bought it,it would smoke while idling until it reached operating temperature, but then I went on a road trip and while climbing a steep hill, I noticed lots of smoke in the rear camera, just seemed to come out of no...

    Fuso won't start or run.

So another update, and plea for help: it starts and runs great BUT it smokes like crazy when I Rev it up, just like before I had the injection pump rebuilt. So I guess the injector pump was never the problem. When it gets to the RPM to smoke it also stumbles like a poorly tuned motor, in fact if...

    Fuso won't start or run.

Unfortunately it still seems to be smoking when I Rev it up past 2000 rmp. I really thought rebuilding the injector pump would have fixed that problem.

    Fuso won't start or run.

Update: SHE'S ALIVE! Thanks to Dan (Aussie Iron) for that manual, and instructions, I was able to get everything lined up just right, put it back together and it fired right up! I'm so happy, I had almost given up entirely on this camper and just about sold it for scrap.

    Fuso won't start or run.

There is a panel between the seats but the hole isn't very big, so some parts are impossible to get to, like the valve cover can't come off unless I cut into the sheet metal. The panel seems like it was mostly made to check the fluids and not really to work on it.

    Fuso won't start or run.

Great suggestions, thank you. My instinct is always to go to the phone book or Google and search for professional shops that talk about working on foreign engines. I think I can figure it out with the info Aussie Iron gave me, but if not, I will be looking for locals to give me a hand...

Sorry, I'm in the USA, specifically eastern Oregon.

    Fuso won't start or run.

DAN! You are amazing! If you weren't on the other side of the world I would hug you! I've been looking for that manual for over a year! You have no idea how helpful that is to me. I don't have it running yet, but for the first time ever, I feel like I have all the info I need, and am not...

    Fuso won't start or run.

By watching a bunch of videos in languages I couldn't understand and then making a random guess. I have been searching for so so long to find any manual that shows how to set the timing without taking the timing cover off, but I've had no luck. All I can find is how to fine tune the timing once...

    Fuso won't start or run.

Basic info: 1993 FG437, 4D33 engine. About a year ago my Fuso started blowing out white smoke but otherwise ran perfect. After lots of diagnostic work, the only thing that made sense was a bad injector pump. So I took the pump out, and sent it to a shop in Portland Oregon that specializes is...

What shocks will fit my FG437?

My Fuso is imported, so it doesn't have am American vin number, so Tom's is unwilling to help me.

What shocks will fit my FG437?

I am getting my injector pump rebuilt and I figured that while I wait, I should replace the shocks; it still has the original ones from 1993. The ones on the front have a part number of MB294429 and the rear ones say MB161742 I have been searching the internet all evening with no luck, I've...

    Buying a Fuso abroad??

Hi. I can actually give some input on this question as I own a 4x4 Fuso imported from Japan. First off, if you're going to get one, I highly recommend using an importer. There are lots of them, and they import hundreds of cars every year, so they know how to do all the work to make it...

    Are these things normal?

Im not sure if I should start a new thread or kee going with this one, but... Has anyone ever timed a injection pump? After countless hours of reading and researching, I finally found a method to do it on this engine: 1:Remove the valve from the #1 fuel line 2:Rotate engine to about 30° TDC...

    Are these things normal?

Unfortunately my truck doesn't have a turbo, the 4d33 is naturally aspirated. That would be a good idea though.

    Are these things normal?

The smoke starts around 2300 RPM, the noise doesn't start until 2800, but after paying attention, I'm not sure there is a "noise" I think it may just be the normal engine sound, just at the RPM is when it's loud enough, that the sound really starts coming into the cab.

    Are these things normal?

So it got worse.... The smoking that is. It used to just be when it started up until warm, but because of that, I wasn't all that worried, it wasn't too bad. So I set out on a road trip, and got about 400 miles in, when it changed. Now any time I accelerate over 2300 RPM it just starts dumping...
