They’re going to take back ANY of the 3-ton and 6-ton stands if you’re feeling nervous about them, regardless of serial numbers. My 6-tons were not originally recalled but I’m going to check my serial numbers again and ponder my next step. Kudos to the owner for acting so quickly.

I have noticed no difference in temps with the Warn. I may change out the trans cooler anyway; it’s pitifully small.

It really depends on the length of your trip or individual legs of your trip. In my neck of the woods I can almost always have access to services within 50 miles. For my thirsty Chevy V-8 I figure 5 or 6 mpg (half its usual asphalt consumption) and then divide that into the anticipated distance...

I replaced two of the four hinges at home and it took just several minutes. I suspect it wouldn’t take much longer in the field. It took longer for three of us to untangle the origami mess caused by a sudden Mojave dust devil.

How did the canvas hold up? Was it tight enough not to flap in the wind. I hear it can get windy in Utah. ?

I wish I had gone with aluminum over fiberglass. I’m un-impressed enough with my Leer that I’d go right towards the ARE. Actually, I’d also check out an aluminum Snugtop, my fiberglass unit from them was excellent. Both Snugtop and Leer now owned by the same parent Corp but I don’t see much...

After snapping 2 of the 4 Delrin hinges on my RR Batwing‘s maiden voyage I’d say the $350 price delta is manageable. True, it was a freak desert dust devil, but very discouraging. Full disclosure: it was a simple fix that could be managed in the field.
