Try monitoring the real time fuel consumption / MPG. It definitely likes the low rpm. Shifting to 5th will typically drop fuel economy 2mpg. It's amazing the hills the motor will pull at 2k rpm or less. Around town it seems to stay under 1,500rpm. Worth playing with for sure! Towing mode makes...

2020 Ford F250 on 37s - Expedition Truck Camper Build!

@freelheeler I doubt you'll find a re-gear worth the money. But that's just my guess! To find out... swap a set of stock tires onto the truck. That will be the equivalent ratio you'll get with 4.88 gears and 37s. 35s and 4.88s will give you a slightly lower ratio. Lower ratios will only really...

We've been happy with the OX locker! Using it air activated from ARB compressor. It's been completely reliable for 2 yrs. I've had much more drama with past ARB lockers.

Lower gears are helpful for everything except MPG and top speed. If you generally travel under 60mph and are not too concerned about fuel mileage... then 4.88s may be the ticket. For the cost of aftermarket gears... I'd go 4.88. It would give a bit more torque starting out especially if...

2020 Ford F250 on 37s - Expedition Truck Camper Build!

In this video we share our Truck Camper Towing thoughts and things to consider: MPG – Your fuel mileage will suffer when towing. Wind drag, weight and rolling resistance all negatively affect your mpg and range. It’s important to know the towing MPG so you can appropriately plan refueling...

What is gained by a gas 3/4-1 ton over 1/2 ton truck?

Light duty Full Size = Car-like Truck Great for driving empty most of the time! High Tech Motors = MPG > Reliability + Durability Can tow but need to carefully watch weights. F150 offers HD frame and towing enhancements to make more functional with large fuel tank (36 Gallon). Fuel economy...

Towing for the summer adventures! The trusty 6.2L pulls the trailer no problem (16k GCW). Not a big fan of towing but planning more basecamp adventures and off road fun. Will see how it goes. Can't believe our truck is over 2yrs old. Time flies

If you had to do it AGAIN...

This is more a financial question than a capability question. Do you have cash saved for a new truck? If not... simple decision. Already made for you. I'd recommend putting aside $500-1000/month that would be saved toward your replacement truck but could also be used for unexpected repairs...

2021 Ford F250 Tremor Adventure Rig

37 fits in the stock location. That's what we have. Actually it's 35.75" actual diameter. KO2 measure 36" new mounted and will fit aired down. We put a used KO2 in fully aired up. Stock location is by far the best.

F150 3.5L Ecoboost HDPP vs SuperDuty

For durability, capability and reliability... no question the Super Duty. Plus can get some great options like vinyl seats and floor, aux switches, locker, 4.30 gears. You can buy in the mid $40s with XL model. F150 may have a very slight mpg increase. But mostly the advantage would be...

Tired of Old Junk but no Interest in Newer 4x4s

The best way to cure the raising car prices is to quit buying luxury versions of "standard" vehicles. There's no reason you need leather, heated seats, heated steering, technology packages... and on it goes. The fully "loaded" vehicle price is often 50-100% more than the base model. There...

    2019 F350 6.2L 4WD build thread; HPI flatbed, ATO AterraXL composite camper, Carli/King, 37s, 4.88s, etc

Failures are not common on the 2017+ trucks. Could be age or design improvement. Our hubs work perfectly. If they fail we will look at Warn hubs. But no reason to replace something that works. And rather convenient. Happy with them so far. Same with the unit bearings. I like them. No...

Tired of Old Junk but no Interest in Newer 4x4s

Better MPG. More power. Less weight. No head gasket issues. High mileage examples becoming more common with time passing. People defending the old engines is funny. Reminds me of the die hard 23r/re guys. I owned several. All of them needed ongoing adjustments and rebuilds. 3RZ worlds...

Tired of Old Junk but no Interest in Newer 4x4s

Have you driven the new Tacoma? We have a 2021 Tacoma Manual extended cab. It's fantastic for what it is. Crazy mindless reliable for the first year. Toyota pays all maintenance for 2yrs. We bought it new for $35k (dealers will negotiate manuals on their lot - be willing to travel). It...

Why the hub hate? Ours have worked well for 2 years including rock crawling. VAC actuation is nice for shift on the fly. Thought about changing them out but they work fine. Did yours fail?

Solid tire choice for sure. Made in Japan. Quality. We are happily rolling on ours after 2 years and lots of hard use. May look to replace them next year.... Will see. MT Baja Boss are an interesting tire; just not convinced on the quality compared to these. Hope your insurance can help...
