    Interesting fail FYI

I'm certainly a fan of my Garmin GPSmap62s. It can show me where I'm at, point me with directions to where I want to go and if I have tracking turned on and displayed where I've been all at the same time. Garmin's BaseCamp program is a great tool for route planning and building a database of...

    New FG in the USA

It's amazing how this family transformed a cargo body mounted on a Fuso into a living space. https://m.facebook.com/PDX2PTG/

    New FG in the USA

Sounds like a plan. Yes, that is definitely the travel blog. Do your homework on importing the camper body. Duty fees and taxes could be very high. Talk to an importer to see what it'll take to get it into the states. If the build was mine, I'd pass on the pass through. For international...

    New FG in the USA

At 14,050lbs GVWR the Fuso is a commercial rated vehicle. Add to it, that it's difficult to source insurance on any DIY conversions is going to make sourcing vehicle insurance problematic. Models 2013 and later seem to have the Duonic transmission and emission issues sorted out. If your set...

    Sprinter 4WD vs Fuso FG

Go Sprinter. The Fuso is considered a commercial vehicle. Sourceing insurance will be problematic. Regarding the Fuso, 2015 and later models seem to have the emisson and Duonic transmissions sorted out. Seems the 2012 model year is the worst possible year to own. Forgot about doing emission...

    Permanent or temporary shower?

Keep the fit-out simple. Park up at campgrounds or hostels for a shower. Learn how to take a bath out of a pan or use wet wipes. Ditch the massive water tank for a couple of water cooler bottles with a Dolphin hand pump. Get a 5 gallon porta potty to use as a crapper.

Wood stove in back of pickup?

Give it a shot and let us know how it works out. The only concern I would have is; that you'll have to make sure the fire is out before you move off. And ash being being blown back into the camper from air down the stack while driving.

    MPG and Expedtion Campers

Every overlander dreams of taking their rig into the far flung reaches in some far away land. The reality is once you start jumping continents, vehicle preservation becomes forefront in a travelers mind. Regarding anything DIY, if you can source insurance on the conversion effort from the...

Expedition Vehicles: ridiculously overpriced or not

They will sell every one they build. Sourceing insurance is easy on a commercial built vehicle. Sourceing insurance on anything DIY is more problematic.

    using campsite electrical hookups

I don't see why not. It's not really the park, but the on site camp host that you'll be dealing with. Try the bathhouse, picnic pavilions, or even the park office.

PICKUP CAMPERS NOT BEING ALLOWED INTO MEXICO!!!!!!!!

Having worked and traveled in the Middle East, I never feared entering a country. It was the fear that I might not be able to exit that worried me the most. It's best to know and observe any laws.

PICKUP CAMPERS NOT BEING ALLOWED INTO MEXICO!!!!!!!!

Its my understanding that it's only been an issue if you require a TIP, Temporary Import Permit. It seems there's two issues, truck campers and the truck's GVWR. The Gertol crowd have been fighting the issue off and on for the last couple of months. There's people working on it since it...

Lets talk insurance for home built trailers

It's not the insurance companies themselves, but the underwriters that back their policies that make sourcing insurance on anything DIY problematic. Maybe the TinyHouse community can help. http://tinyhousegiantjourney.com/2016/10/19/tiny-house-insurance/
