One advatage is range... both on-highway and off. Diesels use much less fuel at lower engine speeds/idle than gas-powered mills. Also, for who knows how much longer, Ram is the holdout still offering a manual transmission in heavy-duty pickups for those of us who love driving them. Not much...

I could not agree more. The low tread depth on some of the less-aggressive all terrain tires, 16/32" or less, has never appealed to me. Less tread = less potential traction and/or ability to handle debris, etc. My current Toyo A/T II tires came with 17/32", which is just okay, I much prefer...

Yep, makes the tread decisions easier. Good idea. The Maxxis Bighorn is a good tire, the sets I've had have always balanced and gripped well. They are also loud and will probably wear fast. Most people spend much more time on-highway and a tread like the Cooper Discoverer S/T MAXX makes sense...

Agreed. I've never thought that the new, now current, and admittedly complex (compared to decades past) emissions systems would kill the Diesel engine, industry will adapt if possible. The benefits of Diesel engines will have to be compromised much more before gas, or another fuel system...
