New guy intro, new to me XJ

Man, putting those reinforcement brackets on sucked. They are done, and I hope never to do it again. It was a bunch of sequencing and the such. Now I could probably do it in half the time. It would still suck.

Ok so I ordered and received the Rubicon Express drop bracket reinforcements. These should go on this wknd, I figured the tranny cross member would be held in by 4 bolts not 2 bolts and 2 studs (possibly made factory line assy faster). They are have been sprayed down with penetrating oil...

    Ruger LCP

FYI... If you are in California you can obtain these through PPT. Check Calguns.net they appear there pretty often from LEO's getting rid of them. Just sayin'.

Pics... Until I figure out how to post images here that show up in posts I made up a flickr account. Sorry for not having a profile shot but the Jeep is blocked in by a few cars and the such... 5.25 of lift and 35s http://www.flickr.com/photos/55968136@N05/5182797015 35x12.5 vs. 33x10.5...

So I adjusted the ACOS spacers to two inches of gap between the top of the adjustable collar to the bottom of the mount. The drop bracket arms are pretty much level. I will see how it rides and the such and make a decision to keep or sell em off. I am in process of uploading some pics...

Hate squirrels? I've got your fix.

This will be my first year attending, I hear it is a good time with lots of action. www.surprisevalleychamber.com/2011-squirrel-roundup.pdf I plan on bringing a couple of 22 lr's and my .17m2. I will be in the company of some .223's and 22.250's as well. The hotels tend to fill up fast...

    AZ- Wingshooting anyone?

I have yet to make it out for Quail but the Dove opener in AZ more specifically Yuma was great. Limited out all days we hunter, lots of fatties. I am going back there for next season as well. Now if they would only legalize Chihuahua in CA we would be all good.

No abs on the vehicle, so the axle conversion should not be an issue... This past wknd was a good one. I didn't have to work, so I wrenched. Saturday I removed the Rusty's shocks and springs from the front and replaced them with the OME shocks and springs, I kept the ACOS spaced at approx 2...

    Wondering what you all think

Do it, I am doing the same thing. Parts are cheap for the XJ. There is a huge aftermarket and a mild lift and expo friendly mods won't break the bank too bad. Space being what it is look at "sleeping platforms" on this board, there are a couple that would workout well for two travelers. Good...

I just got the tires from 4wheel parts, I dropped them off at a local tire shop for mounting and balancing to be picked up tomorrow. Lettering and wheel weights inboard. I am going to try and keep the brackets, I have done some reading and the improvement in ride and chances of avoiding death...

The fenders are trimmed pretty heavily, I wanted as low of a COG as possible. Being a later XJ I have the 8.25 rear axle, the Jeep has the tow package so I think it has 3.73's. I know that I will have to eventually re gear for the tires. I am usually pretty easy on vehicles, I have yet to...

Damn this time change. I spray bombed the OME yellow shocks with some UPOL satin black. FYI this stuff is way better than the consumer grade spray paints, you can find it at auto body suppliers. Another good brand is SEM. Both of these provide better results than Krylon. Next on the list...

My only reason for wanting to get rid of them would be to eliminate another possible point of failure as well as they look like they would inhibit ground clearance a bit... I was under the assumption that they were only needed on larger lifts? Thoughts?

I may keep the parts for a while just in case. The vehicle has been trimmed pretty radically. It is cut in the front up to the water tank, and in the rear just shy of the rear door seam and to the point of needing some patchwork in the rear wheel houses. Thankfully, the fender flares will...

Hi, I recently acquired and new to me XJ. A good friend of mine was on a vehicle purge and offered it to me a good deal. I plan to build this thing up as more of a expo rig vs a rock crawler. The truck is a So Cal vehicle with about 80k on the clock. In its current state it has practically new...
