    ANOTHER Van Build Thread

I searched for a van for over a year and only found a very few that fit my criteria. I was looking for a gas van, but saw the diesels. They are few and far between. I don't think it will be easy to find an 06-07 diesel for under $10K. As far as 06-07 model years, I think the steering was...

Looking for info on a lift

I talked to Quigley a few weeks ago (before I bought a Ford) and they now offer a Chevy IFS conversion with 2" lift for a big upcharge. It isn't on their web site. They told me it is done with lift blocks in the back and their own custom spindle in the front. They do not offer a lift on a...

    Shopping for a van...

A couple other ideas - I went on the Quigley web site to find their stocking dealers. Then went to the dealers web sites to see what they have in stock. Another web site is thundersgarage.com which has used vans for listed, also links to new Quigley vans. cars.com lists new and used...

Project Manic Mobile- new van have questions

I like the 24" hard top because it creates massively more storage room, the opening is wider so 2 people can walk past each other inside, and it holds the heat better in the winter. I also like having the headroom even during short stops when the poptop wouldn't be deployed. The upside of the...

Express versus E-series (and other comparisons)

Based on my research, if you want a 2WD lift I think the only option is Ford. Beware the 2010+ models all have stability control which may not work with a lift. By the way Quigley now offers a Chevy IFS 4x4 with 2" lift. $3,000 option.

Bench seat that folds into a bed?

I think Van Specialties in Lake Oswego, Oregon may be able to provide the hinges. They told me they build their own rollover sofa/beds so they must have access to the hinges.

Bench seat that folds into a bed?

Blazin Belltech makes sofa/beds for toy haulers etc. They have a rollover couch. I had a similar one in a previous van and was OK except it didn't have a latch for the back - a little unsafe. It was also "iffy" to sit on the edge of the bed (for me not my wife). Also found the patent for...

    Winter camping in Sportsmobile

We had a regualar length Ford camper van with 24" hard top. It was easy to keep warm with a 12,000 BTU/hr Suburban furnace untill the temperature got below 20F with wind. Don't have experience with the soft tops but I'm thinking you would be trying to put bubble wrap inside the canvas...

24" bubble top for daily driver?

We had a 1988 Ford E150 van with 24" bubble top, 302 engine, 4-spd transmission, and 3.31:1 rear axle. I didn't see what weight rating the OP is asking about, but our van had a couple shortcomings. 1. The axle ratio is way wrong for the loading and high top. Should have been a 4.11:1 for the...

The Van Plan - Sprinter 4wd - The perfect overland vehicle?

We used to see lots of snorkles in Eastern Washinton right after Mt. St. Helens blew up! Every state police car had one.

    Guidance Please -Adventure Bike

Motorcycles are an emotional purchase - get the one that trips your trigger! The VStrom is the best compromise but just doesn't "do it" for me either.
