Google Earth imagery offline on smartphones or tablets?

Looking for recommendations for iPhone (or Android) apps that allow for offline caching of Google Earth satellite imagery. The end users will be travellng in Tibet and needs to use Google high res imagery as a map since most of the roads he needs to travel are dirt tracks and do not show up on...

    Triple Aught Design?

I knew someone would eventually dish Carhatt in this thread. :D I know it's fallen out of favor as hard use clothing and a lot of their newer casual stuff is crap. But they still make some pretty long lasting clothing and I find much of it fits closer to my smaller frame than say MKs (which I...

    Triple Aught Design?

Have to add my 2 cents here. I bought my Marathon Navigator watch from TAD Gear years ago, before OJ was around and TAD was still in Oakland. I also have the OJ TAD Overland shirt and love it. It's very well made and worth what they charge for it. I'm torn on their other products. From their...

    Norcold NRF portable fridges?

Clone of what? I thought Waeco was a reputable brand, are they just knock-offs?

    Norcold NRF portable fridges?

Curious if anyone here has any experience with the newer portable Norcold NRF fridge/freezers? http://www.thetford.com/HOME/PRODUCTS/NorcoldIncRefrigerators/NRF45/tabid/842/Default.aspx Engle and ARB are out of my price range. I had been looking into Edgestar but recently found Norcold and...

    Mounting options for bed box?

Found some interesting options for side latches at McMaster Carr: http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-draw-latches/=m5utg0 These rubber latches might work, if I can rotate the bottom mount without compromising the connection angle: http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-draw-latches/=m5uvk1 This...

    Mounting options for bed box?

I'm ditching my truck rack and going for a camper shell on my 2004 DC Tacoma, which means I can add a bed box as a semi permanent fixture now. I'm wondering what options there are for mounting bed boxes to the truck bed that allow for relatively easy removal when necessary? I want the box in...

    Camper shell brand comparison

Stopped by Custom Truck in town here to look at shells. I got the prices for the ARE V series, seems pretty good. While I was there I spotted an aluminum Leer shell, I think it's a "Challenger" shell, but I can't find any info on their website about it. It's not the commercial aluminum cap. I...

    Camper shell brand comparison

I'll be sticking with the cab high model. I have an Oz Tent RV-4 so no need to use the shell for camping (and the 5' long bed is too short anyway). This is mostly so I can secure our camping gear with slightly less stringent packing (I can toss some items in that would other wise blow out of the...

    Camper shell brand comparison

Here are the prices I got back on the ARE shells locally: "The A.R.E. Vseries for your truck starts out at 1175.00. The options you want are 125 for headliner, 80 for fold down slider and 167each for solid lift up doors. 1714 + tax + labor(88) + shipping(50)= 1997.69. The Vseries is on of your...

    Camper shell brand comparison

That's a good point, I should give it a try, but I think I'll want it regardless. I am constantly getting at stuff in my bed over the side rails, I usually step on the top of the wheel to reach way in and assume I would do the same with the cap. I think the benefits to access are huge and would...

    Camper shell brand comparison

I'm convinced on the boot issue, just trying anything I can to make it cheap enough to buy. I requested a quote from my local ARE dealer, with pop in front window. CL continues to be disappointing. I think I'll have a hard time finding what I want used if only because I absolutely have to have...

    Camper shell brand comparison

Any idea how much you might save using the boot instead of the drop down front window? I'd prefer not having the interior window so was thinking boot only. That's certainly more than I can spend right now. I'd be more than happy with used but it seems hard to find anything of quality nearby on...

    Camper shell brand comparison

I'm looking for information (opinions) on the various choices for a basic camper shell for my 2004 DC Tacoma. I've looked into ARE, LEER and SnugTop but don't know much about how they really compare to each other, and prices are impossible to find online unless you request a quote. Below are...

Material choices for homemade rack platform base?

For a short term solution I just ended up using 3/4" exterior ply, painted with grey rustoleum. I may eventually source a piece of aluminum tread plate but for now this is working great.

Material choices for homemade rack platform base?

That's a possibility, there's a McBeaths Hardwood in SF. No Baltic but they sell Finnish Birch (exterior) as well as few marine grade plys. The marine grade stuff is too much money but the Birch may be ok. Only comes in 12mm and 18mm. I think 12mm would be ok.

Material choices for homemade rack platform base?

I have a pair of 1.5" x 1.5" (1/8" thick) aluminum square tubes that I want to use to make a narrow rack platform for my truck. Trying to get something done in the next few weeks before a road trip in mid July. The platform will be about 20" wide and 60" long. It will carry my two small water...

    Overland Navigator

Craig, will Overland Navigator import any geo-referenced raster, or only data from the map packs? If only from the map packs than that's the biggest change I would suggest for your next iteration of ON, move to an open file import model and away from proprietary map data. Allow users to import...

    Overland Navigator

I'm not on Facebook so can't vote directly but I'll put one in over here for iOS. I'd say OSX as well but I think there's some good anecdotal evidence out there that OSX will eventually be replaced with a desktop version of iOS anyway.
