Who's building the best 3/4 Ton/ 1 Ton Gas Truck these days!

When I did finally buy (through the Costco deal) the salesperson showed me the window sticker from the dealer where they got it (they traded something; not uncommon). It had a "dealer markup" at the other dealer, just 15 minutes away, of $5000. No wonder Costco didn't send me there. ? Ford was...

Who's building the best 3/4 Ton/ 1 Ton Gas Truck these days!

This question make me chuckle because it, and so many of the responses, are sort of irrelevant this year. And that's because despite the various cool features the manufacturers aren't actually BUILDING many of these trucks. It's vaporware. Ask anyone say still waiting for the Ford truck they...

    Another two Sportsmobile design failures.

How much of this was SMB vs the owner? I dunno about when this was made, but when I bought my SMB it was custom build, IOW the owner could decide what to put on. And they had aluminum bumpers, but I'd never install them, and this is why. Seems like the rear doors was Aluminess' problem, not...

12 volt or 6 volt batteries?

I'll have Mr Trudeau bring a pair back for you in the diplomatic pouch when he leaves CA.... :smiley_drive: Yeah, although some of the better quality ones here are more like $120-150USD, like the Interstates I think Costco sells. Some of the cheapos are often refurbs, which might not be good...

YETI HONDO BASE CAMP CHAIR - $300USD

Boy, some harsh comments. I looked at the description and it only seems like it's $60/TM: EASYBREATHE™ DIEHARD™ GRIDGUARD™ DOUBLEBARREL™ HAULER™ They've gotta charge that much for all the trademark attorneys and marketing people, no? And wouldn't your butt be...

    Water System: Faucet vs. Sprayers

I did the aerator to hose fitting, then installed a quick release. From that, just a hose to various garden hose type nozzles. I had tons of fittings laying around from hooking up beer lines and such, and some of those worked well, since they were smaller. Nice to have the option to either use a...

How much off road can I do w my 2WD SMB?

workerdrone has it right. I used my 2wd offroad before my conversion, and I'd say the low range is a HUGE benefit, especially descending something like the Cerro Gordo road (long steep, with 2wd gotta stop to cool brakes). Getting some height will help, even just with bigger tires. It's possible...

    Wireless charging for phones

Heh...if you kept some of that old gear it might be worth something; some of it's coming back. https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=16153&gclid=Cj0KCQiA-ebSBRC8ARIsAGuxJIr_VyDnKUybRSpbPNP7gdyExeetmX7cjqSMA_ApXUbayUPnsmJd3lwaAjiVEALw_wcB for example; it even has Bluetooth! That stereo hifi unit...

    Wireless charging for phones

Inverter technology is all over the place. Making them is a really common project for those learning about electric circuits, and there are tons of tutorials online if you're interested. And there are two huge markets for them, in solar (DC) and electric vehicles. I have friends who prefer using...

    Wireless charging for phones

Are we even on the same electromagnetic spectrum here, let alone wavelength? you saw the picture above of a wireless charger plugged into 12 volt power in a Jeep? and the links to the products for charging phones in cars wirelessly? or are you just pulling our leg and I fell for it? You can even...

    Wireless charging for phones

What model, etc is that Mophie case and mount? Unfortunately, I didn't see they had a case for my phone, but maybe it's coming. Nice setup!

    Wireless charging for phones

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried a mock-up of a thin one like the first cited, but it drops out when I open the jaws of the clamp and it's more fiddly than I'd like to get stuff lined up. It could work if the phone was in for long periods though. But yeah, I might just have to forget the RAM...

    Wireless charging for phones

Excuse my ignorance, but why? examining my current one in the house I see it proves 5v, 1.8A, and I already have cig lighter to USB adapters that provide more power than that. And there are lots of wireless car chargers on the market already, just plug into your cigarette lighter plug, just as...

    Wireless charging for phones

Anyone found a wireless qi charging solution for use in the vehicle? ideally something that would work with a RAM mount? I was hoping I could find something that would fit under my iPhone in my X-shaped RAM mount, but so far I haven't see anything. Several kinda cheesy plastic mounts with...

    Softshell tents in constant rain

Heh. As a Californian, I wondered about why everybody in the PNW and esp up in BC on Vancouver Isl had blue tarps covering their tents. Ha, I thought...I've got a PROPER tent. Month later, I had a Canadian Tire tarp over my tent too. And camper shell. Helps. But even though I've moved on from...

    Portable Water Systems

We once had those Reliance containers and they were crap. Some wore holes in the bottom. And leaked from the top vents if knocked over, or just when the sides were squeezed by other gear. So, after wasted money we finally got smart and got LCI/Scepter jugs, and they are SOOO nice. We mod'd a...

4xoverland (Andrew White) Shower From His Canning Stock Trip

Um, not being snarky, but what is the use case for a fast shower? I could understand if the item was pitched (heh) as a fast privacy curtain for sudden-onset number two, if you catch my drift, but they don't even mention that. Maybe just delicate. Or maybe one doesn't want that part of the...

    using campsite electrical hookups

I'd say it's kinda down to whoever is occupying the serviced site. Might just ask somebody and say "hey, can I charge my phone in your trailer?" I've seen people sometimes leave phones charging in restrooms and in unoccupied sites, but you better have such a cheap phone no one wants to steal it.
