    Diff Fluid FG649

I follow all factory recommendations except on the rear diff. Because it is a clutch style differential it is very sensitive. If you put synthetic fluid in there the LSD will stop working. I use conventional API GL-5 and I add two bottles of Ford LSD Friction Modifier. If you don't do this...

Oh yes! So glad I didn't worry too much about making it pretty. Fido has had a hard hard life in my ownership. But with proper maintenance the truck has been absolutely trouble free so far. Allan

    Convert 2019/20 4x2 Fuso 140 FE (gas) to 4x4?

I believe the axles they used alone cost $15000. Which coincidentally is about the cost of a used fuso 4x4.

what wood to install between frame and deck?

I used oak. Must be a hardwood. Pressure treated is too soft. Soft wood will compress and cause your U bolts to come loose.

    FG's in Action

In conditions like this I never touch the brakes. Just let the engine control the speed in as low a gear as necessary. In any case we opted to circle the wagons and camp for the night prior to trying any downhill sections. By morning it was much less sketchy. Allan

Rethinking the need for a torsion-free subframe...

My short wheelbase FG flexes very little. This is largely due to the massive subframe I built according to the FUSO factory builders guide out of 3/16" box 10"x3". It is U-bolted every 18" along it's entire length. This combined with the reduced leverage of having a short wheelbase and a...

    Subframe fabricators in southwestern US?

I would probably try to make friends with your local race car fabrication shop. Take lots of pictures and they will get you sorted out. Have had terrible luck approaching traditional truck fitters as they are generally hacks and have trouble thinking outside the box. Allan
