This is a sharp unit. You have done pretty much every preventative maintenance item one should do to a Montero. The only parts I have ever had fail outside your list are those position switches on top of the transfercase. At 154K, they may have already been replaced.

Not to be that guy, but what size lift and tire is on it? It looks healthy. Also, is that a RR locker button to the left of the steering wheel? If so, I'd advertise that as 3rd gens with lockers are some of the most desirable Yotas on the planet.

I too am shocked to hear of a 5spd trans failing, especially at 90K. I have seen quite a few 200K+ G500s, and a few G55s nearing the mark, pass through my family's euro car repair shops on the original drivetrains--trans included. I wouldn't trust the 7 speeds any farther than I could throw...
