Is a charger/Inverter like the Xantrex Freedom HFS the way to go?

I'm using a Xantrex PS2.0, which was the Statpower brand back before Xantrex bought up Trace Engineering, Statpower and Heart Interface. It's worked flawless in my truck camper. I'm a huge fan of the combo (inverter/charger) units. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUPMe9y0oUQ&t=22s

Video: BIG AND HEAVY - THE BIG Reveal!!! I should never randomly search Craigslist for stuff, because money gets spent when I get bored and surf CL!!

What did you do to your hard-sided truck camper recently?

OOPS, I lied... they are Group 31s. I discovered this while making a better video of my inverter installation over the weekend: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUPMe9y0oUQ

    happy jack vs torklift

Happijac doesn't make Fastguns, Torklift does. Happijac may have something similar, but the product name is something other than Fastgun

This is a 6 year old thread, but I will add to it... TORKLIFT! I have Torklift and Fastguns on my rig and won't settle for anything less.

    Balance your trailer tires

This is a video of the tires (and their out of round condition) on one of my trailers. The concept of balancing trailer trailers might be a new concept to some, so I thought I'd share my video here. Back in 2010 I bought a different trailer than in the video. It was a flatbed PJ car hauler...

    Max Coupler Wearing Out

Another wear point I see is that the angled hitch pin is going to wallow of the hole it goes in to as it slides back and forth. A straight, locking hitch pin is a far better solution to avoid a wallowed out hole. Angled hitch pins causing wallowed out holes is a well documented problem on the...

2018 Subaru Crosstreks have arrived (2018=all new)

My gut says "NO, DON'T DO IT!!!" (with regard to buying a Crosstrek.) I really need something that's more multi-purpose.

2018 Subaru Crosstreks have arrived (2018=all new)

I just spent a few hours poking around at the local AutoNation Subie dealer. I hate AutoNation, even though the Subaru store people are decent. They only offered a $619 discount on a new Crosstrek. I drove an 18 and 17 back to back this afternoon. Direct injection and 4 additional HP on the...

2018 Subaru Crosstreks have arrived (2018=all new)

The Lithia Spokane Subaru dealer always tacks on a bunch of extra fees to a deal they pencil up for me.

2018 Subaru Crosstreks have arrived (2018=all new)

Autonation is full of crooks too. The Chevy dealer bashed in the rocker panel on my truck and didn't tell me about it. They sent me to their local body shop to get it fixed, and the body shop damaged the truck even more, and lied about it when I found that the entire right side of the truck...

2018 Subaru Crosstreks have arrived (2018=all new)

Agreed. The class of small cars/SUVs are mostly all gutless with their small engine, because manufactures build them to meet a certain MPG criteria. Giving them more power reduces their fuel economy, and to some people fuel economy is more important than drivability.

I added a porch light on the right side, where there wasn't one

I got this idea from a good friend of mine who had a truck camper. Seems like most truck campers don't have an outside light on the passenger side of teh camper, which is where the "campsite area" is generally located in some back-in sites, and nearly all pull-through sites. Adding the light...

Door handle and baggage compartment lock upgrades

It was all bolt on replacements... remove the old, install new - Plug n Play (drop in replacements) basically. I didn't do the project all at one time, because I was doing it in the middle of winter when it was freezing cold in my shop. It probably only took an hour or so.
