Based on this thread one should really consider an air cooled engine for their overland rig lol. If you want to do something unique for the fun factor to drive around the block with lots of work and minimal results and have lots of free time than go for it. Otherwise this is a pretty silly...
Since the engine was designed to move through the air with the crank oriented sideways I would think that you would have a very difficult time trying to cool the back side of the cylinder heads in an enclosed engine compartment.
I would think it would be slow and not likley to hurt a 4l60. How heavy would you anticipate the truck weighing when loaded, and would you plan on pulling a trailer? How fast would you want to cruise on the highway? A 5.3 6 speed would probably get at least the same gas mileage and far better...
I have thought about that jack idea before but have been concerned about sway or movement due to play in the receiver and swivel assembly. I have been mocking up ideas with welding the receiver tubing directly to the jack and angling the jack both out and backwards. Jack would just be...
IMO the easy way out is to cut 3/4 of an inch off the insert so the pin will fit. Unless you are at the ragged edge of tongue weight I doubt that it would make a difference. If you want to sleep better and spend more money than shorten the insert up as close to the bumper as you can and have a...
Ok if you don't think your replies to my posts were attacks towards me how would you characterize them? You seem to have little interest in answering the questions I have asked you, why is that?
Getting back on subject why did you feel so strongly about Harley that you felt the...
Stalking would be continually replying to your posts with you not addressing me. Since you are quoting me and therefore directly addressing me I am only continuing the conversation. I find it odd that since I have entered this thread you have not actually addressed or answered any of the...
Well it is good to hear that you are not limiting your wisdom to this forum and that you have a greater audience to hear about your perceived greatness. It is silly to suggest that I would read your posts if I don't want to, how does that make any sense? Why did you conclude that I don't...
Oh come on now you are just being silly, if you think the tone of my post suggests that I am upset as I generally find your posts comical and amusing , even cartoonish. I just find it odd that you started this thread in the first place and are trying so hard to belabor the same opinion over...
OP why did you bother to even start this thread out of thin air when you have such disdain for the brand. I find it strange that you have so much knowledge of something that you claim to want to have nothing to do with and is so inferior to your standards. Seems like you were just doing it...
That is the best of the best of the square body suburbans with the one year only 4l80E and right side drop 32 spline 241 transfer case. With lots of heavy duty factory parts as well as aftermarket you can make it pretty much anything you want on a decent budget.
https://www.whitesidemfg.com/product/mtlpneup-40-creeper-with-no-matic-rollers/ I have had this one for about 15 years. I really like the large wheels with soft compound tires which tend to roll over a lot of things that other creepers I have owned would get stuck on. I believe it is made in...
I don't think without complete disassembly that you could ever clean the bugs off a bike after a few hundred miles in the summer if they were mounted in front of the vehicle.
You didn't even address any of the points I made you just deflected by telling me to go talk to manufacturers to disprove my own contentions lol.
Are you saying that all manufactured trailers have A frame tongues and crossmembers on top? I would never dream of making such a statement but I...
So in one post you like building the crossmembers on top even though it is heavier and far weaker and in another you want the triangulation of an A frame because it is lighter. How much weight are you saving with the triangulation? I say the trailer will be lighter by eliminating or at...
Why, what stresses are so great that it needs the A frame. Everyone seems to think you need one but no one seems to know why. Or put it this way, why is a A frame preferable to a straight tongue made out of stronger material? Everyone seems to be recommending receiver tube for the main...
I get it that you don't like a straight tube frame design but why? You seem to have a strong opinion I am trying to learn something from you. Lots of boat , motorcycle, snowmobile, tilt, and others come with a single tube. I don't think the box or load on the trailer really know anything...
