    Winch Mount Bolt Strength

FWIW my 8.8 M10s didn't hold up well to the Vr8000-s in an ARB. Ive had maybe 12 pulls, all of which were hard. Fully stuck vehicles. The washers deformed as well as the head of the bolt. The mounting in a Tacoma ARB is feet forward. I can include pics if you would like. I'm all for the math...

    First gen for panamerican journey?

I can't really comment on the topper/canopy/campershell front. I bought one shortly after purchasing my truck with the intention of camping and exploring. Never slept in it. Ended up finding a gently used RTT for cheap. I love the RTT right now. We will see what next year brings. For weekend...

    First gen for panamerican journey?

My mom is from Central America, so I'm fluent in both languages. But ya, for most people it's gonna be difficult when things go sideways. Not to mention 5000 miles from home, alone and wishing you had bought than one more mod, be it a locker, winch, higher quality suspension component etc.

    First gen for panamerican journey?

Full disclaimer: I own a 1st gen Tacoma xtra cab, so I'm totally biased to these trucks. Have you researched 4x4 swap? You have a 6 lug prerunner, I assume, because you mentioned an e-locker and 2wd. It's not all that expensive, I'm told. Wouldn't take more than a dozen trips to the scrapyard...

Help me choose a 30" light bar

Source? Not doubting, but without a source, it's he said she said. Disclaimer: I run only Rigid Industries led lighting on my Tacoma. Would run other top tiers, but never offbrand Amazon and eBay look-a-likes. I have seen first hand the lack of quality in light pattern.

The Snorkel's relevance to North American overlanding

I'm also from BC, and have a question. I change my air filter every 1000miles. Yes, 5 times between oil changes. Not because I want to, but because they are filthy. I drive logging roads and FSRs. Probably about 40-50% of my driving. You don't need desert to find dust. The dust clouds from...

To lift or not to lift, that is the question

Yes they do. For 1st gen tacomas the 880 I believe will be stock height coil. Should be the same for 4runner. I know nothing of rear coils, I'm a Tacoma guy. My advice is don't lift it. It's one big money pit. And almost unnessesary. The benefits are there, but in reality you are trying to...

Show us your Toyota 4runner, tacoma or truck.

I believe I saw your truck today in Jerusalem. Near the Old City. It's easy to spot with the snorkel and colour (most cars are light here).

    First Gen Taco lift question

I have a V6 and I'm running 882s with an ARB and Warn w/synthetic line. Rides pretty smooth. It sat dead level, so I added the OME add-a-leaf to get some rake back. There is also 883s, but I've heard they aren't as flexy. Check out Tacomaworld.com for more feedback. There are lots of guys...

Mr. Heater BOSS-XB20 BATTERY OPERATED SHOWER SYSTEM Reviews

I have the XB20. Charges on 120vac and 12vdc. So far so good. I bought it late in the summer. Used it once out on the trail last fall. Haven't been out since. Was very refreshing having a hot shower after a cool night in the RTT. It heats up well past comfortable (for me, the sweet spot is 113F)...

3/4 vs full height bed rack fuel economy

Hey there, I have been lurking for a long time on ExPo, but this is my first post. I will share my experience and thought behind why I run a cab-height RTT. I initially bought a canopy, coming from a tonneau cover. More space and security. My plans were to sleep inside the shell, but that was...
