REPAIR: Replace Tierod Rod Ends
DURATION: 30 Minutes
COST: $310
SUMMARY:
After 47k, the tierod rod ends needed some love. In actuality, only one end really needed to be replaced since it was squeaking ever so slightly and the lining was worn out. Since I was down there, I thought I might as...
Figure I'd test to see how well the new lights worked out on my way home.
For the cost, I guess I can't complain.
Glare off the hood isn't too bad. Reach is pretty good too. Go figure.
I wonder if it's worth the effort to create mounts to angle the alley lights downward to bring the beam...
MODIFICATION: Roof and Alley Lights
GOAL:
Finish out the OCD roof rack.
PURPOSE:
I didn't really "need" this mod, but it came up on my local Craigslist and it was cheap.

44" single row light bar
4" (x4) flush mount light pods
Misc wiring and connectors

If my findings are right, TCs from 3.4L T4Rs and Tacos could work on the A340F. FJCs might have them too, but there's a distinction between manual and auto trans that I haven't decoded yet.
Another "thing I wish I had" last time I was out.
Taking the guesswork out of leveling the Sequoia.
It's a repurposed bubble level I took from a broken tripod mounted in the upper center console. It has a relatively "level" surface reference to the car. It is neatly tucked away and...
Did a bit of browsing over in the FJ forums. It would appear that the AT TC would bolt up to the A750, but the MT TC would bolt up to A340 (40min search).
Low risk option is to probably try and source a T4R or Taco TC.
? Man, what a mystery....
Based on what I've researched, yes, same bolt pattern. The auto coupler would need to be transferred over due to the difference in length. At least, that I've read. I've yet to do the mod.
I looked through your old posts and it doesn't appear the cables are routed next to any heat sources.
I'll ask anyway.
Any chance the cables are stretching under normal operation?
Well, before the upgrade, I've had the ball joint on the outer tierod separate from the cup and I've bent the inner tierod, as well. Easy fixes on the trail since I carried cheap spares.
I wasn't using OEM at the time on those components. Learned my lesson on that.
The upgrade is stout...
Thanks for taking the time.
Sounds like you have solid plan for your Sequoia and the camper. I like to travel light so campers aren't my thing. However, I have wished that I did have one on a few occasions just so that I can set up camp, take the Sequoia out for some sightseeing, and not...
Not much to report since I've been sheltering in place. Plus not much to do on the car. I've been meaning to re-finish my bumpers, sliders, and trim, but I've been too lazy to do it.
Finally acquired some spare rear control arm bolts to add some redundancy in the rear end.
A little piece of mind, on and off the road, goes a long way.
Updated my original post about it.
