    pivoting frames and mounting campers

My M2 currently has a very heavy steel flatbed mounted. The bed was built crazy heavy out of 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" steel because the previous owner wanted as much weight as possible for a better empty ride. The gooseneck ball is also mounted directly to the bed and it wouldn't suprise me if the...

    pivoting frames and mounting campers

I'm with ntsqd.......In the racing world, where my work experience comes from, a flexy chassis is avoided like the plague. It's much better (and easier) to let the suspension do all the work as it can be easily data logged and tuned for spring rate, ride height, rebound/compression damping...

    pivoting frames and mounting campers

"There wasn't anybody around the Unicat rigs when I shot those photos to ask permission. " Thomas tossed me out of the MXT Unicat for taking a picture inside.........In retrospect, I really should have asked first..... but I didn't appreciate attitude. (It was an Expo wasn't it?) Everyone...

Jay, I just wanted to thank you for all the information and inspiration you have provided for all of us! I just purchased a rig and hope to start on my own project very soon. (Now is a great time to find a deal!) It's a '07 Freightliner M2 Crew Cab Business class with the Mercedes 330 hp and...

Nice work! Thanks for sharing your experience as there are many ideas and details to "steal".:arabia: I was hoping you could point me in the right direction to a supplier for the rounded exterior corner aluminum pieces. Please keep up the interesting build posts........I can't wait to see the...

    F 450 flatbed camper build

I agree Capt Eddie...... I once had a flatbed that would where the tire would hit the bed......doh! My Bigfoot is an "E" model designed with higher cab clearance for the Ford Superduty (47") which gives me 4" of clearance over the cab on my Dodge with stock deck height. The body builders guide...

    F 450 flatbed camper build

Great! I'd love to have some detail pics of your build. I'm much better at copying a good design than coming up with one on my own. I guess 4" height is enough clearance for your tires..............wonder If I could get away with that on my Dodge? It would make for a much simpler build...

    F 450 flatbed camper build

Very Very Nice! I'm about to build an Aluminum Flatbed for my Dodge 3500 DRW 4x4 Bigfoot Combo and I hope it comes out close to as good as yours! I had a question about your bed framing. My current design is to have a "drop" center so to speak which will keep my current stock pickup bed floor...
