I bet using the trailer connector would be just fine if you used good soldering techniques when installing it on the power supply wire. I had Anderson Power Poles before I went hard mount.

It's not a good idea to lift the whole rear of a vehicle with a hilift.. VERY unstable for that use! Maybe a shackle for use with the hilift as a winch.

I have an 8gb pny sd card that has been in my D40 since the camera was new. I download and format exclusively in camera. It has not had any problems in the probably 10 years that I've been using it.
