    Red's deuce camper project

Thanks, going well so far and have much more to come. I picked up the tires from a friend in El Paso, bout $225 each including wheels/run flats. If you need some shoot me a PM and I'll get you his info. Know a guy in Arizona with them as well. I have a spare tire that will be mounted in the...

    Red's deuce camper project

Haha its actually a pretty practical truck with a few upgrades. With size its a little shorter than a crew cab long bed pickup. Add power steering and the taller tires then it's set. To run the MRAP wheels you need the adapter plates (bout $110 each) and 10 1x3" bolts per wheel. The turbo is a...

C, the whistler. Once I get the gauges I'll turn up the fuel and decide from there if it needs a turbo upgrade. One that kicks in a little earlier and flows at 15-18psi in the 2000 rpm range.

Not yet, waiting to turn the fuel up until I install a boost and egt gauge. Only engine related work I've done is upgrade the first fuel filter to a spin on setup and add a coolant filter. Later the turbo might be swapped for a more efficient one and head studs added. It will get up to 60mph...

    Red's deuce camper project

Thanks y'all. The new tires are a huge upgrade, robs some power but benefits with bead locks, traction, run flats, higher top speed, no tubes, and very thick rubber (extremely difficult to puncture the tires). They are 46" tall, allow for 60mph cruising comfortably. Next upgrades are seats...

    Red's deuce camper project

Thanks. Its becoming a very good utilitarian truck. Installed the new tires today, flipped the rear hubs, replaced a leaking wheel cylinder. Has been a busy weekend.

Yes the tires will help a lot with the rpm. Offroad they perform nicely as well, great tire for these trucks. I'm planning to run a MUST shelter in the bed. When closed its the same size as an S280 shelter, but the sides open up to expand an extra 5ft per side. I'll be mounting a 12000 pound...

Safari Can is a storage container that fits in jerry can holders.

Customs and the overseas shipping are the big hits. When I talked to them about it they said an individual can shipped to the US would be very high. Shipping them to 1 location first cuts down the cost.

Safari Can is a storage container that fits in jerry can holders.

The $65 includes shipping/customs to the states to my address (Midland Texas, 79701). Then regular shipping from there. If willing to wait there's always the option to meet somewhere and bring the safari can along. I travel around Texas fairly often and always have extra room in my truck to...

Safari Can is a storage container that fits in jerry can holders.

That is a creative idea with the laundry. I'm planning to use one for tools and small spare parts for the truck. Price for us in the US is about $65 each with an order of 5 (cheaper as we get more) plus shipping here in the states.

Safari Can is a storage container that fits in jerry can holders.

Was sidetracked with the wheels/tires purchase for the deuce. Could make the order in 2 weeks for those interested. Need to know the amount and color.

    Red's deuce camper project

Forgot to update here. Picked up a set of 46" tires for the truck along with seats. Upgraded the primary fuel filter to a spin on setup and made a filter for the cooling system.

Picking up the tires in about 2 weeks so just cheap projects till then. Had to flip the front bumper and pull it out so there would be enough clearance between the radiator and winch. Mounting an 18k pound electric winch.

2008 F450, motor swap, multi purpose truck.

The dt360 is a common swap in the military deuce and a half. Even with its stock tiny radiator it doesn't have cooling issues, think your f450 radiator will handle it great.

    Impassible When Wet

If you want to stick with an at the bfg's hold up for a long time and provide good traction there in your area. Maybe toss in a rear locker if you want even more traction. In a truck they help a lot and don't create the 'on pavement' handling issues like a jeep gets.

    Most common things to break

Belts, fuel filters, duct tape and zip ties. Pb blaster, brake fluid, couple gallons of drinking water (coolant and personal use). Other non vehicle related items, and recovery equipment. If you drive a vehicle that needs electronics to keep running a spare alternator is a very good idea...
