The new 7.3 - how is it

My MIL has a 7.3L in her Class C motorhome she bought last fall. Its an E450 chassis and the 7.3L is detuned compared to the Superduty. I think its 350hp/46x torque and it has the old 6 speed instead of the 10 speed. I drove it around Utah and Wyoming anywhere from 6500-9000’ of elevation. It...

    Ford Tremor Fighter...2022 Silverado ZR2

Problem is, it better not be more than $60k. Because for a little but more I would be in a lower trim Raptor or TRX before this.

    ZR2 vs Gladiator Sport S

The gladiator has the 3rd gen EcoDiesel vs the 2nd gen in the JGC. And yes the general consensus on the 2nd gen is that they suck. My buddy is a huge diesel guy, even has his own business building turbo upgrades for the Colorado Duramax, and he has had non-stop issues with his stock JGC ecod...

    New Bronco

The ecoboosts do not get terrible mileage. Especially the 2.7. The 3.5 isnt quite as good but still better than most V8’s except the GM’s, which are about even.

    (partially) new Tundra coming?

My parents have a 2017 Expedition EL, so the older one with the 6 speed, and it also has the tow package with 3.73’s. That thing was averaging 19.5 mpg after me taking it up to a wedding in NH last weekend, 3 hours each way, doing 80 mph and then some back road driving around town. No joke, that...

Rear Bumper w/ Swingout Tire Carrier for F150... Why doesn't this exist!?!?

Ive got an SAS’d 95 4Runner with winch, winch bumper, sliders and air lockerfor way less than 10k. It just sucks to drive on the road more than 20 miles lol.

    (partially) new Tundra coming?

Does that matter if a tundra in the same conditions is getting 15? At the end of the day, most half tons are driven unladen most of the time.

    (partially) new Tundra coming?

I think the issue is that there is nothing special about the tundra so they dont have much else: 1: 3.5L TT v6? Yeah that was done 11 years ago 2: 10 speed transmission? Going on 5 years 3: 5 link rear axle? Pretty sure ram did that in 2013. Now those red sway bars. . . That is unique Fords...

The turbos between the raptor and regular 3.5L are essentially the same. The compressors are the same, the only difference is that the turbines are a lighter weight material.

    New Bronco

And an FJ with either 239 or 260 NA HP.

    New Bronco

Still. I would have expected it to just walk away from that FJ at a mile above sea level.

    Weight

I didnt advise others of anything. In fact, my entire point was that it felt uncomforable in a significantly larger, more capable truck than a Ranger. So save it. You and everyone else also have no idea what the payload rating of my truck is. Sorry to offend you.

    New Bronco

Did anyone see how slow the 2.7L Bronco was on TFLCar? It barely outran an FJ Cruiser a mile above sea level and got destroyed by a Wrangler 4Xe. https://tflcar.com/2021/07/ford-bronco-jeep-wrangler-fj-drag-race/ That kinda solidifies my desire to get a 2.3L Manual Bronco. If its gunna be slow...

    Weight

I was actually thinking that a while after I wrote it. Imagine driving through Wyoming at 80mph with 3000 lbs in the bed of a ranger :ROFLMAO: I've put a little over 2k of crushed stone in the bed of my F150(maybe 2500 lbs) with my air bags fully inflated to level it out and it was still a bit...

    Weight

What irritates me is that in Australia, a Ford ranger double cab 4x4 diesel has a curb weight of 4600 lbs and yet has a payload capacity of 2400 lbs. That is diesel 3/4 ton territory in a truck that is almost half the weight. The weight of that truck is clearly not higher than a US ranger...

    New Bronco

If your tuner retains the factory safeties, and doesnt just raise limiters way out of the way, then I think they can be extremely reliable long term. I mean, really, how much of the time you drive can you really be using more than the factory power/torque? A quick pull here and there is about it...

    Weight

Yeah sorry I had typo'd and corrected it already. Either way, even if his point had any legitamacy, he still chose the smallest axles availble for the domestics and the largest for the Tundra. Makes it a little hard to believe he actually knows what hes talkign about.
