what gearing to do you have on yours? 4.10 or 3.73? For sure, i will have a lost of power, there is no way around this with those bigger tires. I have the bigger one of my other transit 350hd dually that i just sold and over 3 years, never had a issue with sensor. the speedo was off by 11% so...
yes, that is right, you only gain the radius so half of the diameter. The stock tire on dually 350hd is a tiny 195/75/16 and i go to 235/85/16 so i gain about 4.5inch bigger tires so half of this in lift.... 2.2inch + 5.5in lift and it get to close to 7.7inches.
time to order more parts!!!!
i do have the 4.10 and it s a 178 wheelbase so that is a long long long wheelbase. might not turn very sharply! The tires in one of the pictures i m installing are 32s. (235/85/16) So with the lift and bigger tire..you end up close to 8'' higher then stock so the relocating shock mount become...
mine is a 2wd so you can actually put a aftermarket spindle that keep all the tie rod, lower control arm at normal stock angle but drop the hub part 3 inches giving you a real 3''lift. on top of that...you put the van compass topo 2'' with bilsein sock and you get around 5.5 in of lift up front...
any advice from anyone on the right door for a project like this? it m trying to be smart...the nice composite door are very expensive...even more in canada vs usa! But yeah...better make the right decision the first time!
Tern overland/total composite have 2 options....
vs
any other...
i m doing the same build technic but on a ford transit chassis. what kind of panel are you making? what material? technic? any details?
glue them to the aluminum frame or rivet them also?
this was just a little test fit...me and my 8 year old girl carry the structure on put it on the truck so it s still very light at the moment. The truck as 6130lbs of payload so while i still want to keep everything light, i think we have plenty of play room with this one!
a year behind....but life as been fun and there was too much going on. so my and my daughter got back at it today.
-our truck is now legal for the road after we build a temporary flatbed. with permanent registration and insurance, now it s time to work on the build..... i think it s gonna be a...
that is not a easy decision to make. you say ''starting'' a family. does this mean you dont have kids yet? i say this as what you say was me and my wife when we got married. Avid outdoorsy people...honeymoon on Mt Everest in the coldest condition you can imagine, camping in winter in a teardrop...
such a beautifull place in the winter! and so quiet!!!! i was there with my wife a few years ago..but we didnt have the same ''luxury'' as you! love those winter trips!!!
i feel the same way.... this is a thread about the Ekko and find the posting of the owner of another brand to self promote poor taste. There is already a thread about the Aeon.
There are two different product.... one is a refine and high production 130-140k flashy looking unit and the other a...
i do a lot of 7-20 days trip with 3 kids and the shower is a ABSOLUTE must have. my kids are young...they play hard..get so dirty! we are often stealth camping in citys, side streets, or in cold places/winter and a outside shower isnt a good option for us!!!! I m making a new unit and the...
i think both the ekko and cross trail are legitimate unit. i been camping into forest services road in bc for past few years and both of those units would have made it anywhere i been. and i m definitly in the 1% of camping population in the place i camp. Personally, i think the Ekko just look...
the frame on the 178 is almost identical in dimension to the sprinter 170 but move the rear wheel another 8'' back. So it mean for me, the overhang or at least, the structure will finish just a hair under 6ft behind the rear axle (5'10). For comparaision visually, the sprinter 170 extended is a...
i use to camp with a teardrop trailer and it was amazing, versatile, offroad capable etc. and i got kids! i started camping with them every they were 1. i have 3 kids and to be honest, the first couple year with all 3 was a lot about teaching them to be good camper body and it wasnt as much fun...
i love this thread as it as bring so much idea and knowledge that as help me think of the ''next project''. But even more important is the message you just past. it will never be perfect and we will always want to improve on. But the memory and moments it bring us as a family is precious. My son...
me and my kids did lots of test peices similar to you and both PL and epoxy did well but
i went with PL premium between the wood panel and foam and used epoxy between the foam and aluminum sheet. Reason for this is simply that the epoxy was so much easier to spread on the aluminum vs the pl...
i started the project and me and my daughter builded 10X 4x8 composite panel!
Then, came a amazing opportunity to buy a home on acrage and sell our current house. So the last 6 months have been a insane crazy time and we have moved into a 3 acres home with a giant (to me) 900sft triple garage...
