    Adventure Through Maine's Allagash Wilderness

Thank you. That photo is one of my favorites as well for that exact reason. THAT is why we do this. Simplicity, relaxation, adventure, free spirit. Appreciate it! Few more posts to go... things have been difficult as of late with some life circumstances (post to follow) but I got some more...

    Adventure Through Maine's Allagash Wilderness

Day 2 – Beyond Telos Checkpoint I woke up early the next morning to a thick fog encompassing our campsite. Grabbing my drone in hopes of capturing some of the eerie surroundings (picture tall pine tree silhouettes standing in stark contrast against the sun-lit haze) I headed out down a walking...

    Halley - '17 WK2 Trailhawk Overland Build

Hey Chuck, Thanks! Personally I think it'd be worse, as the tire would be 3-4" lower and blocking more field of view, but I can't be sure.

Hey KGA! (I used to have a friend with a Euro repair shop called KGA Motorsports) I'm pretty sure that with everything, the tire carrier, hi-lift/rotopax mount, and license plate mount it was about $700 delivered. This was a year and a half ago before their price hikes recently. There was some...

Wilco Hitchgate Solo The Wilco Hitchgate came to my attention almost two years ago now when I began to research building a Trailhawk into a capable overland vehicle. Since at the time almost no information existed about really overhauling a WK2, I found myself with a ton of dead ends, and...

I love the Rangeley area. Some of my favorite sections of the Appalachian Trail are up that way in the Saddleback area. We're planning a winter North Maine Woods trip this year so there should be a fair amount of time spent up in the Allagash Wilderness before 2020!

Thanks for reading! Greatly appreciate the kind words. 1) From what I've heard, Chandler (who owned the company and handled the tents) wasn't getting enough commitment from people and basically said he'd get back to it when there was consistent and genuine interest. I guess we just lucked out...

I'm back again after a bit of silence with modifications to the Jeep. It's been running along and I've been busy as all get-out traveling with work, saving money as much as possible in anticipation of a move to the Carolinas next summer. Needless to say, I finally got to work editing photos and...

Welcome back to Boston! Definitely open to talking about exploration and locations to check out while you're here... in fact... check out the next post!

    Adventure Through Maine's Allagash Wilderness

Day 1 - En Route to Katahdin Having packed the last of our gear into the Jeep the night before our departure, we had no reason to rush around the house the morning we left for Maine. With the temperatures climbing into the mid-80s and a good amount of humidity blanketed over Boston, we did a...

Happy to, it's an amazing and under appreciated area. Bugs were almost non-existent. In my personal experience with Maine and bugs, I'd say that May to mid-July really is the worst time for black flies and the like. We were not bothered in the slightest during our time there in mid-August.

Hey, glad it's going to be a useful writeup! It's an absolutely fantastic area of the country and one that is in our New England backyards. We haven't been out to CO/UT yet with the Jeep, and it's on the list, but my fiancé wants a Pacific Northwest trip before anything else. Happy to answer...

    Adventure Through Maine's Allagash Wilderness

Trip Introduction First off, I’m a year overdue in writing this; that said, better late than never, so here we go. The North Maine Woods is an incredibly unique place consisting of more than 3.2 million acres of privately-owned land abundant with trees, rivers, and almost entirely undeveloped...

    Adventure Through Maine's Allagash Wilderness

Hey all, Back again after a bit of silence following our 2017 Trans-Canada Overland Trip and QB-5 Overland Adventure. I finally got to work editing photos and beginning to write about our club's trip last summer through the remote wilderness of Northern Maine, so here I am to document it. Might...

Late with a reply here, but ecstatic to hear you found useful information in this trip report. Absolutely do recognize the TexasTJ username! I used to constantly update on JF with "Big Red" the Boston Jeep Build - pic attached.... Been a long, long time since I've posted anything (or done...

Random - totally understand the hesitation to cut and drill... believe me, I had the same. At some point, right around taking off the $300 brake light housing to install the CB a week into owning it, then following up with cutting up the dashboard for the switch panel, I managed to get over it...

Hey Cole, Larger tires made a negligible impact, maybe 1 MPG. It's tough to tell precisely as I added the RTT three days later, but the change was hardly noticeable. Truthfully the largest impact I've had on fuel economy has actually been the Chief Products Lower Front Guard. I was thinking...

Hey Ghost! Thanks for writing in, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. The 150 lb rating is in fact for dynamic load, aka rolling down the highway at 70 mph. The static load, as TT-Tacoma noted, was for when the vehicle is stopped. Technically speaking the roof and A/B/C/D pillars...

Bob, I'm going to jot notes based on our phone calls for others looking for this information in the future... 1) I've not found an "easy" way to get through the firewall, and instead have used the rubber grommets at the bottom of the a-pillar by the doors. There are photos of this in my HAM...
