I can't reccomend firestone over bilstien, I really like bilstien shocks but have only had experience with firestone airbags. I was mainly suggesting airbags over air shocks. For the truck questions, definitely get the electric rear locker. I'd also take the 3.73 over the 3.55. Maybe a little...

Enrique, good luck on your search. Whatever you wind up with, consider firestone airbags instead on the air shocks.

Costs involved if your driving a '06 Jeep would be pretty minimal. Entry fee, travel and accommodation expenses. You gotta eat anyways, camping is mostly free, plot your course, figure your mileage, add $1000 for whatever and hit the road! The only thing you might inccur as a late joiner is a...

Travel warning information / route selection

I like the idea of a Spot, but sold mine after it failed to work on my vacation in Hawaii. Hawaii is on the edge of their coverage map (at the time) and I gambled on it working, but it doesn't seem like it was in the middle of nowhere. Hawaii is a pretty popular place. On the other hand, it...

    so all or mud???

I'm a fan of mud terrains, I'd run swampers if I thought it was practical. But I don't think it's practical for a road trip, I'm running AT's.

    iPad or Android?

My cousin learned the hard way about the ipad GPS (or lack thereof), quite a downer. We jailbroke it the first day and he tether's his phones gps. I recently picked up a Nexus 7 for onboard navi, my phone was just to small. All Nexus's have built in GPS. I'm an android fan so it was a no...

Info about temporary vehicle permit and insurance for Mexico

Thanks for the info christian, I didn't know we could get permits valid for 6 months online. I'll be doing that for sure. Do we need a tourist card in addition to a passport? Is that available at the border, and would we be better off getting it ahead of time? Thanks!
